Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE For sale here is the wife’s 2002 Ford Windstar. We are the second owners of this van but know it’s history from day one as it was originally purchased by the company I work for and given to one of the outside salesman as his company car. Terry, the salesman who had this van, put 150k easy highway miles on it in three years. It was always garage kept and well maintained including having the oil changed every 3k miles. Our company gets the outside sales guys a new vehicle every three years and employees get the first chance to buy the old ones. When this van became available we bought it because we knew Terry had taken good care of it. I talked to Terry and he confirmed that he had never had any problems with it, nor had it ever been in an accident. It’s never been involved in an accident while we’ve had it either. We bought it in March 2006 and it’s been very reliable for us. At the time we bought it our son was a teenager and the van was mom’s taxi, running him and his friends around. The ability to seat seven was welcome then, but he’s out of school, working and has cars of his own now. My wife wanted something smaller as she always had small cars in the past and thinks it’s silly to drive a seven passenger van when most of the time she’s the only one in it. Actually she’s always thought the van was a little big for her and called it her semi. She just prefers a smaller car. She doesn’t drive in the winter unless she absolutely has to, so in the really bad weather it’s been safely tucked away in the garage. The floor in the garage bay where it’s parked is clean as a whistle so we know it has no fluid leaks. The motor runs great, and doesn’t use any oil between its oil changes. The transmission works and shifts just the way it should. Everything works including the power windows, power locks, power mirrors and keyless entry, and the A/C is cold. The only mechanical problem we had in the four years we’ve owned it was last winter when it was cranking longer than usual before it started. It never failed to start, just cranked longer than it should. We had it checked at the Ford dealer and were told that the fuel pump was getting weak. We had a new fuel pump installed, and while it was in for that had the transmission and cooling system flushed for preventative maintenance purposes. Since then it fires up right away. In August of last year the battery was replaced with a Duralast Gold, Autozone’s top of the line battery. The van gets its annual PA inspection each August so we recently went over it to see what it might need. The front tires were getting pretty worn so they were replaced with a new set of Goodyear Integrity all season radials just last week. The front brake pads were also replaced. The rear tires and brakes both have about 80% left on them. It passed both the PA safety and emissions inspections and is good through August 2011. The interior is in very good condition. It has an easily removable third row seat that’s hardly ever been sat on, and has mostly been stored to increase cargo space in the rear. The wife says it will haul a lot of groceries that way. Both the second and third row seats can be folded down. We are not smokers and neither was Terry so it’s always been smoke free. We use the ashtray to hold spare change. The body and paint are also in good condition. The only flaw is a small spot of rust on the drivers’ side in front of the rear wheel. I’ve shown this in the pictures. I’m not sure why that happened as there is no other rust on the car. Even the bottom of the rocker panels and inner side of the wheel wells are rust free, as is the frame. There are some minor chips, dings and scratches as would be expected, but the original factory paint shines up real nice. It has sliding doors on both sides which is very convenient, making it easy to get in and out of the back seats. Both side doors have child proof safety locks. The power door locks activate automatically when the van is put in gear, locking all the doors. My wife really likes this feature, coupled with the keyless entry, as she says it makes her feel more safe when she’s out at night. Something else I’d like to mention. Most of the cars on ebay these days are at dealers and just about all of them add a “documentation fee” of $200-$400 onto the final price supposedly for the title and tags paperwork. This is bogus in my eyes as it doesn’t cost anywhere near that much to get the paperwork done. As a private owner I have a clear title in hand which I will sign over to the buyer at the time of payment. There are no hidden fees. The buyer can then get the proper paperwork done at any notary for a lot less money. I can refer you to a notary a couple miles down the road from me who I know has reasonable rates if you wish. This van is solid, clean and reliable. I only hope that the Focus we got to replace it will be as good! Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions at all as I want to be sure the buyer is happy with the transaction. I’ve done my best to give an accurate and honest description of the vehicle
