This auction is for a pretty nice 1985 Honda VF1000R bike that would make a great restoration project. First the good stuff...the bike starts and runs and the transmission shifts fine. Engine sounds solid when running, not obviously bad noises or excessive smoke. The bike seems pretty complete with all of the shrouds and cowlings shown included, and they are not perfect but very solid. The tires are great with at least 70% tread front and back. The bad news is that the bike is going to need alot of TLC to be truely road worthy. The carbs are going to need cleaned and adjusted I would say. Its going to need brake work to be safe. I want to be clear in the fact that you cannot buy this bike and ride it home. It is not roadworthy but it will run well enough and long enough that you can get a very good idea of the engines actual condition and the things that you will need to do to put it on the road. I bought it to do a complete restoration and in the last couple of years have realized that that is probably so far down the list that it probably is never going to happen! I looked at restored bikes and they sell for BIG money so if you always wanted one of these, the first superbike, well here is your shot!
