Vehicle Detail

Up for auction today is a 1987 Ford Mustang LX with the fairly rare T-Top option. I looked for almost a year before I bought this car. I was attracted to this one because it was a four cylinder car. The price was right and I liked that it wasn't a V8 car. It's hard to beat a four cylinder car enough to twist it up like most modified V8 cars get. I have had this car sitting behind my house for about 5 months as I've been slowly accumulating parts for it. I have decided to sell it because I just found another T-TOP car rolling chassis and a mini tub kit already done. I don't need two of these and this one is the pbvious choice to sell. I will be completely honest as I tell you about the car. The good is that the body isn't all twisted up and the car hasn't been beaten hard. Even if it was driven at full throttle every second of every day, the four cylinder engine doesn't make enough power to hurt anything. The body is decent and it is a manual transmission car already. The glass tops are in great shape. The heater core was just replaced, too. The tires are okay. When I bought the car, the owner delivered it to me in Central PA from New Jersey. I have only driven this car around the block and parked it in my driveway. The battery died from sitting but if you jump start it the car should run. I cannot make any claims to its mechanical condition as I have driven it about 100 yards...but as I said, the last time this car ran (5 months ago) it did make a three hour trip. For the bad, the doors will need replaced as both are rusty on the bottom. I do have a pair of doors that may be bought separately because I am not sure if I want to part with them or not. Besides the bottom of the doors, the body is free of any major rust. There is a small bit of surface rust on the top of the hatch but nothing hard to fix. The interior is in pieces and will need put todether. All the parts are in the car with exception of a passenger seat. The person who sold me the car mentioned that the fuel gauge did not work. There isn't much else to say...last I knew this was a reliable four cylinder car but I never drove it personally. I'd recommend trailering it home. T-TOP cars are getting hard to find and this one is a chance to start fresh on a car that hasn't already been torn apart by someone else. I have title and keys ready to go. If you go to Ford shows you know how much a good set of T-Tops go for if you can even find them at all. It's been years since I've seen a set of T-Tops for sale. This car is worth my asking price in parts alone. Please email me with any questions.
