1984 Reliant Rialto2 pasenger car. Three wheeled 35 HP, 4 speed, two door full highway legal, normal automobile. (NOTE ebay does nota accept 84' VIN) Reliant manufactured cars in UK from 1935 - 2001. Three wheel vehicles were exempt from certain road taxes, they are normal regular cars, fuel misers, small and practical. I have driven at 80 MPH on highway with trucks and cross winds, driven in traffic, over mountains and for a 150 mile trip. This is NOT a toy, not an neighborhood EV, but a gasoline powered, small car. The Rialto2 is one of the better models, having a full fiberglass body, floors, doors and a galvanised chassis. The engine is based on the Lotus seven - Aluminum, 850 CC 4 cylinder, SU carb. Many of the parts are based on Austin Mini's: brakes, steering, wheels, dash, electrical -Therefore parts easy to get, cheap The car is peppy, goes 80 MPH, is sporty to drive, gets ~ 70 MPG, and seats two and plenty of gear easily. The rear boot lid, offer clear access, the rear seat folds down to make it very practical for gear. It is a four seater, but assume the rear two are for kids/dogs unless going on short trips. It has 38k miles, is very tight, clean, tiddy. Color is a tan or beige. It shines when buffed. The car has recently had (within last 800 miles): new exhaust (front to back) new brakes, brake flix hoses new drums new tires rebuilt carb new tire rod ends tune -up new sealed battery all fluids changed new wiper Carpets are good, comes with two extra wheels/tires, spare, two boxes of spares (starter, wires, lamps,....) Radio cassete works fine, speakers are good, heat is there but minimal, fog light works fine, headliner clean, door panels clean, seats clean Car shifts wonderfully as shifter goes right into box ( a Mini gearbox) Engine is very smooth, starts right up, idles well, this is the "Yellow head" engine witch is the higher capacity, more saught after. Car of course gets looks everywhere, gets almost three times better gas mileage than a old Mini, has better leg room ( i am 6'3") and has no rust problems. Drive it everyday, use for fun. needs nothing. Comes with full paperwork, customs, epa, dot import papers. all legal, all set. Ask questions (but please search web a bit -lots of info out there). Reserve is set over $3000 under $5500, How often can you but a 38k mile car with lots of new stuff, recent service! On Jul-29-10 at 14:51:00 PDT, seller added the following information: Note on underneath picture: You will see the black undercoat and then peeling area exposing the gray galvanised frame. the idea was not to hide anything. One can wire brush, prower wash,.. and recoat. also the front wheel is shown on both sides (whhels sandblasted and painted silver) the front arms are clean and solid with slight surface rust. The front bushings, suspension, spring, as well as all three shocks are new. The ride is realtively soft for such a light car (~960 lbs.) is not too bouncy, except when on really rough, bumpy driveways, it will jossle because of the light weight. But on road it is firm and predictable, and does not blow around when a truck passes on highway,... fiberglass is very good, only slight crazing on front 4" of bonnet lid, and slight 3/8" nick on front corner (shown in picture) On Jul-30-10 at 05:55:04 PDT, seller added the following information: More notes, items to make sure i have described well: glass is good, not faded, modern safety glass except two rear side windows which are plexi. The side windows are thick, firm, mounted in proper rubber, as if they were glass. They have some fading/crazing, but safe, watertight and clean. front door window seals good, windows crank fine, although drivers handle knob has a tear, and will pop off if care not used (I have become accustomed to it), easily replaced. handbrake is perfect, wipers are two speed, emergency flashers work. Car has No reverse light, but one can switch the rear red fog lamp to a clear lense/body (supplied) and use the fog switch. [My state requires whatever is factory spec. to be working, therefore no factory reverse light, no need to have it.] antenna has some corroison on the aluminum. note bag in rear with complete jack kit. Also have the Operators manual (original). Radio can be popped out and replaced w/modern CD easily, existing speakers are good (four). car has locks, door locks work fine, boot lid locks, as well as petrol cap. have one full set of keys. rear wheels could use a pair of hupcaps -Mini will fit. car may be stored for up to 30 days as long as payment is made in full The British Invasion Car show is in Stowe, Vermont is Sept 17/18. I don't recall seeing one of these rigs there. You could fly in, pick car up, and go to the show, participate in the drives. Keep asking questions, I have 22 watchers. Thank you On Jul-31-10 at 10:47:29 PDT, seller added the following information: Further to the inquiry on mileage (38,900 vs 60,200) the import partner I worked with in Canada (not canadian Auotcheck reference) mistated the mileage when registering back in 08' He deals with many cars and missed this one. The car was imported to Canada in 08, he intended to keep it personally, and put a lot of work into it in winter 09' and then parked it in his barn as Quebec then banned RHD vehicles. we decided to bring it down here, I would drive it, and sell it. We brought it over the border in June 10', after going through it after bringing out of the barn. I have really enjoyed it, but need the cash to invest in my business.On Aug-02-10 at 13:47:18 PDT, seller added the following information: Mileage update note: The 60,200 on Autocheck refers to km as Canada converts miles to km when vehicle is registered (miles X 1.6 = km) Therefore please be clear, mileage is 38,900 miles (within a 200 miles) Thank you. As for delivery, the car is capable of driving long distances, you may not want to drive it 10 hrs, but it is ready. It will cruise at ~60 -65. flatbed's are also an option.
