Vehicle Detail
Great looker, authentic AMG package, California car. This is the last year of the European style bumper, any Mercedes of a later year with this bumper is a grey market import. Also, this vehicle has authentic European headlights. I have owned the car since 1978, bought from a family friend. Odomometer reads 136,000 but stopped working several years ago. Engine has approx 250,000 miles, is strong but uses 1 qt. oil every 500-800 miles. The engine is original and the heads have never been off. Transmission leaks fluid and would need new gaskets. Transmission is fine as long as fluid level is full. Recent replacements, are power steering pump, starter, alternator. Car runs cool. This is a perfect car for a rebuild of engine/trans or for a switch-over to a 350 or such.GM or Ford power. Other issues to deal with are: needs windshield wipper motor, dash lights switch, fan motor and hoses for A/C-heater, turn signal control, sun roof switch. The body is straight with no dents, has body blemish (bondo) on left rear deck where emblem was removed. AMG wheels, spoilers, gear shift knob, steering wheel. Has seperation on drivers seat back, can be repaired with stiching.; While this car is a real "looker" and will turn heads, it is by no means a Pebble Beach Concours or Barret/Jackson vehicle. But could be. It has been my "daily driver" for 32 years. For some of that time I worked from home, otherwise to office daily, but very short distance 4 miles ea. way. Please call me an ask any questions, I know this car inside and out and could be a great buy for the right owner. My family thought I would never sell it, that they would bury it with me, but the time has come and it just may be the right time and car for you.
