Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my 1976 Fiat Spider 124 Convertible. This is a really fun top-down car. It's very cheap to register and insure ($100 per year for full coverage) in most states because it qualifies as a classic vehicle. I did a lot of work to this car to get it to the point where it is now. Take advantage of all that time and money on parts, as you'll pay a lot more rebuilding one than buying one in this condition. Details on the car: Runs very well and transmission works very well. It's the 1800 engine (I believe the most desirable in Fiats) and a 5 speed manual transmission. It starts right up in any weather and stays perfect temperature even when very hot outside. It doesn't pop out of gear or have any issues indicative of transmission wear or engine issues. Just to take my opinion out of the equation, I took a video of the car running and driving. You can access it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWcbFEqIa48 Within the last year, I replaced the timing belt, interior carpet, seats (from another Fiat), all fluids including trans, rear, antifreeze, and brakes. When I had the carpet and seats out, I used POR15 on the floor pans - a super high quality protective. Front suspension has been entirely replaced (ball joints, tie rods, shocks, etc). I did not have it professionally aligned after replacing the components so I would suggest having this done. It does drive straight and well as it is though. Carburetor is one of the most desirable models for this car, a Weber 32ADF. It was completely rebuilt last summer by a Fiat specialist. Even the original water choke is hooked up and working correctly.Tires are older but have good tread and are not dry rotted. I think they could use a balancing but drive fine. The wheels are from another Fiat and are factory upgraded wheels rather than hubcaps (I do have the red cap that was missing in the pics, I just forgot to put it on). Brakes are all new, including the master cylinder, rubber lines, calipers (all 4), rotors, and pads. They work really well. However (and this is the only thing that could make it hard to drive a long distance right now), sometimes after long driving the front brakes tend to stick. This doesn't happen suddenly so it's not going to instantly stop you, but there were 2 occasions where I had to pull over and wait until they eased up. I think it may just be an adjustment on the power booster so I will try to look at that this weekend. All lighting/wiring has been gone through and works properly except for the flashers. The turn signals work fine but the flashers don't flash. I think it's just the switch (and this is not the year where all of the electronics run through the flasher switch). Interior is in great shape with the exception of the dash in a few spots and the chrome around the emergency brake. Convertible top is in great shape with no leaks and goes up and down properly. Windows work properly as well. The body is in good shape but does have some rust spots. The critical areas for these cars (door hinge areas, engine mounts, and frame) are all fine. But there are some spots on the exterior with some rust near the wheel wells and front valance. I think it's really just cosmetic areas and as you can see from the pics, it looks fine in my opinion. The floor pans are also not perfect but they have been patched and are solid feeling. The seats don't move around which would be a sign of bad structure. All the gauges work well except for the clock (it works but can't adjust it unless you disconnect the batter for a bit). The oil gauge works but is off - I checked it with a manual gauge and pressure is higher than the dash gauge shows. This is normal for dash gauges.Overall, this car is in very good shape for the year. I tried to represent it well by including everything I can think of, but if you have any questions or want to check it out prior to the auction ending, please feel free to contact me. Thanks for your interest! On Jul-26-10 at 20:15:25 PDT, seller added the following information:As requested, I just posted pictures with the top down. I also should have mentioned that I do have a black tonneau cover as well but I never used it so I'm not positive if/how it works.
