Here for your bidding pleasure is a very nice, 1979 Porsche 911 SC that is in very nice condition inside and out. This is a totally solid California car that is a blast to drive. It is a very solid, unmolested car that has been well kept over the years. This is 1 of only about 1,965 911SC Targas produced for US sales in 1979 and even fewer specifically built for sale in California. This car has lived in Central California its entire life and was bought new on October 30, 1978 at Ely Porsche Audi in Hayward, CA. This Targa had an original MSRP of $29,150 all the back in 1979! This car is a three owner car and was put into storage in 1992 with around 80k on it. It was stored until 2007 when the previous owners estate was liquidated and it found a new owner who got it back on the road. The car has the original 2993cc drive train which is definitely something you do not see everyday. There is nothing cooler then a driving vintage Porsche! Mechanically, this 911 is in excellent condition! Anyone who knows Porsche knows that these early 80's Porsches are regarded as the best years to own. The engine compartment is clean as a whistle and shows how well this car was kept. The motor is also very tight and doesn't leak. The car was given a clean bill of health and I was told the motor has excellent leak down compression and passed emissions with flying colors! Both the Engine and Trans are factory numbers matching. The suspension is tight and true and handles as a Porsche should. The car easily cruises at Autobahn speeds well over 120 mph. The odometer reads a bit over 85,000 miles, which is certified to be original, as well as documented by the Arizona title and service booklet. All systems work and the car does not over heat and is a true pleasure to drive. The entire brake system was just overhauled with rebuilt calipers all around, new brake lines, drilled rotors, new pads, and a complete fluid flush. The car was also in for an extensive service after years in storage which included injector removal and cleaning, new valve cover gaskets, valve adjustment, shift coupler bushings, and was dialed in to pass Arizona smog test. It also had a recent fuel pump, fuel accumulator, rebuilt distributor, and new alternator. Overall over $3500 was spent in the last few thousand miles making sure this Porsche is ready for the open road! This car also has passed rigorous CA and AZ smog tests. The exterior of the car is finished in the gorgeous color of Mocha Brown. Overall the paint looks good with only a few small flaws and still has a beautiful luster. I would describe the paint job as a overall good driver quality finish which can be driven and enjoyed and has some chips and a few burn spots on the high spots on the hood which can be seen in the pictures. The body is totally solid and is as straight as an arrow, showing no evidence of body work or accidents. All door gaps appear to be factory original and correct. Overall the underside is completely solid and rust free as any California desert car should be. All the weather stripping on the car is soft and supple. The factory Targa top seals up nicely and the vinyl is in excellent condition and was just re-done! The car is riding on the original 16" staggered Fuchs wheels. The tires are 16" BF Goodrich performance directional radials and only have a few thousand miles on them. The Cork colored interior is in nice condition and is clean and presentable. The front bucket seats are full German leather and look excellent. They are updated power reclining Porsche seats. The carpets, rear seats and door panels are all original and in excellent condition. All the gauges and lights work as they should. The original radio and speakers were replaced with an Alpine sound system that sounds great. Also the lights, horn, turn signals, defroster, and even the lighter work. The car is a factory A/C car with all equipment still in place with the exception of the compressor. The car was used at the previous owners mountain home, so he never replaced the compressor. One of the nice things about this 911 that you don't find in most cars is the complete ownership history. The paperwork which comes with the car shows the original purchase dealer in Hayward, CA as well as copies of CA registrations from the following owners. The original owners manual, original service book, original Blaupunkt manuals, and even the Hirschman pamphlets will come with the car. The bonnet is in excellent condition and still retains factory carpeting as well as the space saver spare with the original jack.
