Vehicle Detail
This vehicle is the 537th Metropolitan made, as I understand the numbering of the Mets. They started with #1000 and this is #1537. It is an older restoration by owner (me) on solid body vehicle with clear Oregon title. Tags expired last year. Drives and runs fine. Paint by owner not up to show standards, and I was planning on repainting myself prior to developing health problems. Floor has been totally replaced with original Metropolitan floor (I owned 8 and took the best floor for this car as it is the only one I intended to keep). They have all brand new tires (8 new radial tires with less than 800 miles on them), original Nash logos on the 6 hubcaps, the horn, and floating bar grill as well as the spare tire holder on the 1954 (the 59' trailer has the later spare tire holder) . Motor has been changed to a newer Metropolitan 1500 cc (original had 1200 cc). Rear window has been changed to one piece glass (original had 3 piece). Corvette luggage rack added. Original radio in but not working. CD player/radio added (easily removable). I have new interior roof liner, not installed, to go with vehicle. Trailer is the back half of a 1959 Metropolitan (thus I call it a "Politan") with working trunk lid. Great for cruises, but can be used as a regular trailer as well. Upholstery and paint match on car and trailer. The rear seat cushions in the 54 have been upholstered, but the rest of the rear seat has not been finished. Once the motor warms up, I was told there is a "piston slap" which can sometimes be loud, but not a problem for driving. I was told the motor was rebuilt around 10 years ago, and it was put in this car around six years ago, but had never been started prior to putting in my Met. The 700 miles on the odometer are the miles I have put on it in the last 3 years since it was completed. It has been driven primarily for cruises and shows. Also, the gas gauge recently stopped working. The vehicles come with no extra parts except what was mentioned above. There is one small dent under the rear bumper on the driver's side (from jack-knifing backing up trailer) and one even smaller dent on the same side of the trailer near the bottom right on the crease and is visibel in the photos under the "politan" script. Smoke free vehicle. I purchased the vehicle from the second owner in the state of Washington about 8 years ago and did all the work myself. I have photo documentation of most everything I did, and I will gladly supply a copy of the CD to the buyer. It is the buyer's responsibility to make all arrangements for shipping, however, I can assist in driving the vehicles within 20 miles to help deliver to a shipper or it can be picked up at my house. Vehicles are available for inspection by e-mailing me for appointment. I have maintained a perfect record on Ebay and am now selling a vehicle that I intended to keep. I've described it to the best of my ability. Please feel free to ask any questions prior to bidding.
