Vehicle Detail

Up for bid is this 1955 Packard Series 5580 Caribbean Convertible. One of the last true Packard's. With a production run of only 500 there isn't many of these beauties left. Only a handful came with an all black exterior paint code V. From what information I could gather, this Packard was ordered by the vice president of Champion Spark plug. He owned this vehicle for three years before he traded it at a Mercedes dealership in Michigan. From there it went to a family in Michigan that I have contact with. They informed me that their father purchased this vehicle from the Mercedes dealership. Both sons dated their wives in this car. From there the car was found in Michigan by Tom Mix of Massachusetts. That is when my father found the car. After a few years of pestering; Mr. Mixs finally sold it to us prior to his demise. There is a title to this vehicle and it has been restored some time ago. Currently it has fairly new interior, convertible top, convertible top motor and lift pistons, exhaust, spoked rims, tires, carpet, rear bumper is re chromed, water pump tune-up. The chrome is in immaculate shape for its age. Somewhere down the line the original four barrel setup was removed and replaced with a signal four barrel. We do have the original intake with a rebuildable carb and the carb that is currently on the car. We do not have the linkage or air breather setup. Also, there is a tear on the right side of the dashboard. There will be a new dash pad furnished with the car that the new owner can install. The windshield is faded at the same spot of the tear in the dashboard.A few nicks from road debris are also apparent on the windshield. This car was a daily driver until last summer. With the front and rear torsion level suspension this car gives a nice smooth ride. We recently pulled it out of storage and are in process of cleaning it up. We will be sad to see this car go and hope that it finds the same love in its new home that we have given it over the years. Please e-mail with any questions or for more pictures. Thank you and Happy bidding.
