1986 VW Jetta GL Built in West Germany, November 1985 This car is five months from being a classic and is in wonderful condition. Combining a powerful engine with great acceleration and a five speed manual transmission, this car a joy to drive. The suspension is superb. The car rides smooth and handles well. This is a non-smoker vehicle. If buy it now is used, or auction price reaches $950, I will include the stock wheels and tires (175/70R13 tires which have 90% of their tread left). Otherwise, the buyer may purchase the wheels for $100. Corrado G60 Rims (P195/50R15) are on the car now and included in auction price. *Buy it now option disappears after reserve price is met, and the reserve price is very low. Owner’s manual, Bentley service manual, and Haynes service and repair manual are included in auction regardless of selling price. Down payment of $500 via PayPal is required within 48 hours. Vehicle must be picked up and full payment must be received within seven days of the auction’s end. This car is for sale locally, and I have the right to end the auction at any time. Buyer assumes the responsibility of transporting or arranging transport of the vehicle. This car has been well cared for. However, there are several things that the buyer should be aware of: First, the odometer stopped working properly shortly after I bought the car (my best estimate of actual mileage is in the 140,000 mile range). Because of this and the car’s age, this car is being sold as is. The title will read “odometer discrepancy”. The tachometer has also become sporadic, not working more often then working. Second, even though the cars body is pretty amazing for being 24 and a half years old, there are several body blemishes. First, the undercarriage is rusted in several places. The worst place is under the driver’s seat where the floorpan is rusted through (see pictures). The floorpan’s integrity is not compromised, however, and is still firm. Second, the front right panel was backed into. The dent was pounded out and the spots where the paint cracked were painted with primer. Third, there are minute dents and spots of rust in various panels of the car (the worst spots are in the lower front corners of the doors (see pictures)).
