Vehicle Detail
2000 BMW R1150GS Motorcycle In my opinion, the Swiss Army Knife of motorcycles...unbeatable for commuting or highway travel, very capable for off-road or adventure travel and the power and control to run the twisties with a sport bike. In 2000, Cycle World Magazine awarded the R1150GS "Best Sport Touring Bike". It's a great all around bike and they are known to hold their value. I'm the second owner and I've owned it since January of 2006. I bought with it 37,974 miles and it currently has 58,270. It was originally purchased in San Francisco and driven across country to New Smyrna Beach, Florida. After that, the original owner did two trips to Alaska from Florida and the 1000 mile 24 hour Iron Butt and the four corners of the U.S.. I've used it for fair weather commuting and a half a dozen trips to the mountains (no trailer either, ridden to the mountains). It has been a great bike with no issues. At present, it has an ABS error. I haven't taken it to the dealer or tried to resolve it. I've had the fault error since I installed new battery. The brakes work fine and there is no issue with driving it with the ABS off. The ABS is selectable. In total, I've driven it about 1,000 miles with the ABS fault and I haven't noticed a difference. I put in a new gel battery about five months ago and the current tires have some life to go. It has been well maintained and it has lived it's entire life in the garage, accept while traveling and then it was covered. It has all three removable boxes, Throttlemiester cruise control and a removable Garmin GPS. Everything works fine, accept for the current ABS error. It has heated grips and I have both the Adventure (current one mounted on bike) and GS windshields (smaller one). It has some signs of wear and that should be expected with it's milege and age. Hopefully the images will present enough detail. So as to get the question out of the way, we have a baby on the way in August and this bike and I have had our fun and it likes to be ridden. Soon I will little time and having the extra cash wont hurt either. I've taken a ton of pictures and you are welcome to contact me with any questions. There is a very good BMW motorcycle dealer in Daytona Beach and if someone is willing to pay to have them inspect it, I'm willing to take to them as my time allows. I have it at home and it's also available for inspection by appointment in the evenings. It is ready to go anywhere without issue. If you are the winning bidder and want to work out a plan to fly-in and drive it home, please contact me in advance to sort out the details. Daytona Beach is the nearest airport, but Orlando may be the least expensive. Both airports offer a shuttle service to New Smyrna Beach.
