We bought this as a classic 1981 Mercedes Benz that starts, runs, and drives and sold it to a customer from Atlanta. He had a local mechanic here get this car ready for a cross country trip by installing new tires and fixing a fuel leak, and servicing the car all around. He is now unable to make the trip and asked us to sell the car on his behalf. We are selling it as a clean driver with good potential for a collector car in the right hands. It needs a little bit of TLC but overall is in better than average condition. While there are always issues with older collectible cars like these, we do know that it starts runs and drives and has been recently serviced. The engine looks to be well kept and runs without any knocks or noises and doesn't smoke. The car's transmission seems to work fine without any grinding. I drove it for 50 miles around town without any complaints and on the highway she pulled very strong. Mechanically one issue that I see is that the exhaust is barely hanging in there and is quite noisy. The body looks good with just a few small dings here and there and the paint is glossy and shines up nicely with only a few small blemishes and bubbles in the paint. The interior looks original and is in good condition overall, not perfect. The panels and seats look pretty clean with one tear on the driver's seat cushion.The hard top is in good shape and has a really clean tight headliner and the car has a soft top that shows its age. The ODO seems to work fine and we are told the mileage is accurate. The passengers windows need help going up and down as the regulators appear to be wearing down. One might have to do a little work to get all the gadgets working the right way- as would be exepcted with a car like this. It has an aftermarket CD player that works. Overall it is a great looking car that has a lot of potential and can be appreciated as is- or taken to the next level. The tires are brand new. We have the tool bag, jack, manuals, and some receipts that date back to the early 90's. It was sold by a local Ferrari specialist and has been in Utah for several years.
