Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This 1914 Model T Ford is an older restoration of a solid original car with 60+ year history. Not a car made from pieces, this car left the factory in 1914 with most of the parts it has today. Engine number is 601,027, casting date 10/10/14. It has correct taper leaf springs, upper mounted wishbone with add-on lower wishbone support (a very good safety item), correct coil box. Lamps are all correct Jno. Brown’s: Headlamps Model 16, Sidelamps Model 110 and Tail lamp Model 115. Set up to be a good tour car, it has new upholstery beautifully tufted in genuine leather for the seat cushions and leatherette for seat backs, as original. It has a new flat tube radiator for trouble-free cooling, an unusual Planetor 2-speed driveshaft-mounted transmission which works like a Ruckstell axle but preserves the original appearance of the rear end. Also for touring, it has highly desirable Rocky Mountain brakes and Kevlar bands, as well as an unusual accessory foot accelerator which does not interfere with the hand throttle. The engine has allegedly been rebuilt by a previous owner about twenty years ago, but I have no documentation on what was done. I have not inspected the insides nor checked bearing clearances. All I can say is that it does run well, has good compression on all four, pulls well when on the road. It does smoke a little when started up. The original cylinder head appears to have had a water-jacket crack repaired. It does not leak. (I would probably get a new high compression Z-head for touring.) Again, the radiator is new and there is a water pump. The new top is in good condition without rips or tears, but could stand a cleaning as shown in the photos. It is fully functional and flexible. There are no side curtains. The black paint is very good overall with some crazing on one splash apron and minor chips and scratches here and there, which is fine for a car that will be driven and enjoyed. The original wood wheels are painted dark blue. The tires have good tread but some cracking in the sidewalls. The safety-glass windshield has a small crack which probably could be repaired or arrested. Overall, because the car has seen minimal use for several years, I would recommend a general chassis inspection and servicing of the engine and chassis before serious touring, but it starts easily and runs well as is. I’ve tried to represent this car as honestly as possible. Any questions, please ask. You are welcome to visit the car personally before bidding. Payment must be in cash or US certified funds which will need to be cleared by my bank before the car is released. I will work with a shipper after you arrange all the details, but I cannot transport the car any distance myself. Because of other advertising, I reserve the right to cancel this listing before reserve is met. Once reserve is met, the car is sold. In answer to questions: --- YES the car does run well on mag -- you can throttle is as low as it will go and it purrs along nicely. A properly adjusted set of coils makes a big difference !--- The repaired crack in the cylinder head does NOT extend into the block. Visual inspection only, of course, but I could not detect any signs that the crack is in the block. Again, the head does not leak and the crack is subtle, not really noticeable unless you look. On Jul-14-10 at 13:19:48 PDT, seller added the following information: Lawyer Talk: As stated, this car does not have an existing warranty, but it doesn't hurt to remind buyers that this car is sold as is and where is, with no guaranty or warranty. I have described this car as honestly as possible and disclosed every defect and question that I am aware of, but it is a 96 year old car and I cannot take responsibility for flaws, defects or issues which may arise after the buyer takes possession. I think it's a good car. I hope the next owner gets a lot of enjoyment out of it as it deserves to be driven and enjoyed.
