Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1959 Chrysler Windsor 4 door hardtop. Vin # M519102585 Model M-C-1-L43 Body # 340 Paint Code LML 66,763 Miles I purchased this car a couple of weeks ago from a friend of mine who has been ill for quite some time and is getting his affairs in order. I purchased the car for two reasons, firstly they needed the funds to help pay for some specialized medical treatments and secondly because I'm a Chrysler fan myself. I own a 1960 Chrysler 4 door hardtop. As much as I would like to keep the car, well, you know how it is. He had owned the car since 1982 and only put on 1500 miles in that time frame. I don't have any history on the car before that. When I picked the car up I filled the gas tank and drove it 100 miles home. I was amazed at how well it ran, even with bias ply tires(tires in good shape) I've driven the car around town for a couple of days just to give it some use, and it's a very easy car to drive. I believe the production on this car was relatively low around 6000 I believe, I know that I certainly haven't seen another one around Winnipeg. To the best of my knowledge the mileage is original. The car runs and drives well, handles well, breaks and steers well. Matter of fact it steers better than my 60. It looks like the car was repainted at some point in the past, long before the previous owner got it. It's lacquer paint and has faded. Overall condition of the car: speedometer, odometer, oil, temperature, amp, map light, parking brake, remote drivers mirror, interior lights, headlights low and high beam, turn signals, radio, all work. Gas gauge does not work. Dash pad has been warped from the sun. paint has faded and has chips and scratches here and there.Pass side rear window chrome needs to be redone. Under door eges all good and solid except small surface rust on drivers side door (pictured) Front and rear bumpers are not banged up but are showing their age, there may be a product out there that can clean them up but I have not tried. I took the car to Ming to see if they can refresh the paint and they did a little test spot on the trunk lid and I couldn't believe my eyes, it brought the paid up to an acceptable level. Car is idling a little rough when at a stop sign but as soon as you accelerate its fine. I'm going to put new plugs and wires in the car before it is picked up or shipped. The cars had some moisture in it because it has a musty smell. The fabric inserts on the front seat will need to be replaced, on the backrest their fine, backseat is a good overall condition. I threw out the seat covers that were on the back seats and the extra carpets he had laying on top of the original carpet as a back one was wet. The carpet, front to back need to be taken out and thrown away. I had the car it up on the hoist and had a good look at her. Frame is solid, floor plans are in good shape. Body mounts are all solid. There are some small holes on the inner rocker panels that could use patching. The trunk has some holes on both the left and the right side that will need patching.
