Vehicle Detail

For sale is a 1962 Chevy II 300 4-door sedan. Car is a daily driver, not in show condition. Engine is a 194cid (3.2L) in-line six cylinder with 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. Mileage is approximately 85K (odometer works on-and-off, so it's an estimate). Built at the old GM Leeds plant outside of Kansas City, MO, the last week of November, 1961. Prior to my owning it in 2002, vehicle was owned by a single family who passed it down from grandmother, to kids, to grandkids. I've replaced the interior carpet, kick panels, upholstery, and added seat belts (see interior picture). Only damage is on the driver-side front fender (see picture)--it was dinged by a careless daycare bus driver the day after I agreed to buy it from the owner (what luck). I never got around to fixing it, but I don't think it would take too much work to fix it. There is also some paint damage beneath the gas cap & along the rear trim strip (see picture)...I think it could be buffed out. During the time that I've owned the car, I've driven it back-and-forth to work during the summer, and it's stayed in the garage/storage otherwise. Has the original AM radio w/tubes (takes a bit to warm up when it's turned on, just like the '62 Nova I had as a kid). Has a spare tire, and original jack mounted in the trunk. Drum brakes front and back; will need some adjustment. Cowl tag (I don't have a picture because it's all black and hard to see) has the following info: 11E: Built 5th week of November Style: 62-0469 (62=1962, 04=Chevy II 300, 69=4-door sedan) Body: KC 6124 (Leeds KC, MO plant, prod sequence number) Trim: 749 (Aqua vinyl bench) Paint: 965 2 C (Two-toned, upper=Twilight Turquoise, lower=Twilight Blue, not sure what the "2 C" means) ACC: 1B (Can't find what that means) The car is painted a light blue, and I think it's pretty close to the Twilight Blue of the original. The headliner (which the previous owner installed) is a blue paisley pattern, which matched the upholstery he'd installed and I replaced--I'm not sure why he didn't follow the original colors. Regardless, I still think it's a pretty car for it's age! No rot--previous owner did some body work prior to having it painted (~10 years ago); when I replaced the carpet, I could tell one floor pan had been replaced, and one still looked fine. Glass is good, windows roll up-and-down just fine. Car is sold as is, and like I said, it's a daily driver with some small rust spots and paint dings (apart from the ding by the driver's side headlight). If desired, an inspection is buyer's responsibility to accomplish prior to auction close. Non-refundable $500.00 deposit required within 48 hours of auction close. Buyer is responsible for pick-up, transportation/shipping. Payment by cashier's check or certified money order. Car is also for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction early.
