Diesel conversion. Truck has been converted, to a 97, 12 valve dodge Cummins 5.9 turbo diesel with inter cooler and a dodge diesel 48RFE 4 speed auto trans. Truck was ordered as a, GMT 400, Heavy duty, cab and chassis only, with a 454 gas motor, and a 4L80 trans, Flat bed was mounted by first owner, and titled as a company lease vehical. 2004, truck was purchased with 140.000 miles, and was, converted, and rebuilt, truck is now titled as a diesel conversion, no emissions are required for a diesel. This was a two year restoration and conversion project done by the owner of a transmission shop and his mechanics. truck has been completely restored and rebuilt, has 7000 miles since being done. More than $17.000 was spent on the conversion kit, motor and trans rebuild and parts, not including the cost of the truck itself, the paint, body parts, and interior. Motor was done by Jeff Garmon @ Garmon's Diesel Performance, he holds the 1/4 mile record for diesel trucks," you tube" his name for an example of his work. Motor puts out 475- 500 hp, 750-800 torque, and 40 lbs of boost, Trans, has a billet torque converter, hardened input and output shafts, over sized billet pan, shift kit, XXL external trans cooler with separate electric fan, driver select 4th gear and lockup, with a B&M ratchet shifter. When deciding what motor to use, the builder, choose the 97, 12 valve, cummins turbo diesel, because, it is the strongest motor to build, for performance, power, long life, and fuel efficiency, and with the 48RFE transmission, a perfect combination. E/bay the 97 cummins diesel reman motor, and the same transmission, built with comparable performance parts, to see the cost of the drive train in this truck, $20.000+ Truck is like new, Everything has been replaced, all front end parts, shocks, all brake parts, rotors, calipers, heavy duty pads and shoes, front lines, all seals and bearings, custom 4" exhaust, spicer u joints, balanced drive shaft. New bumper, grill, all lights, front windshield, mirrors, door seals, window trim, entire interior has been redone, All lighted gauges also work with dimmer, tack not working, custom dash, console, seats, carpet, etc. Under the hood, heavy duty starter, belts, hoses, fan, both batteries, K&N air cleaner, A/C compressor, alternator heavy duty, over sized radiator, all motor externals replaced. Was driven to 140 MPH, very smooth, with more to go, runs, rides, handles, and feels new. All computer electronics have been removed, giving it maximum performance and power, with no restrictions, and still decent fuel mileage, There are two fuel tanks, the factory tank, and a 50 gallon second tank, new tool boxes, and new paint. This is a very powerful, extremely fast, comfortable, fun to drive, beautifully, and perfectly done, truck that will last forever.
