I purchased this truck from the second owner, about ten years ago. He was an older Gentleman, who had begun the process of a re-paint, but did not realize the expense and time involved. I paid top dollar for this truck, and have since invested more than its worth. I would love to see it placed in a museum, and would even consider retaining ownership to see that happen. I would also consider trading it. This truck is as rust free as it could possibly be. The floors and tailgate have never even had surface rust. There was absolutely no body panel, or patch panel replacement involved in the repaint. It needs a new front panel for the bed, or it could remain as is. I use this truck to haul light items, so I never put the pretty oak bed in. The wiring has been replaced with correct, reproduction original, fabric covered looms, and it still retains the six volt electrical system. All of the weatherstrips and glass have been replaced, including the fender anti-squeak rubbers. As many original parts as possible have been retained, in order to keep this truck the survivor it is. This truck was purchased new by a Mom and Pop hardware store in Santa Barbara, California. It was kept under a carport area, next to the store, until it was sold to the second owner, sometime in the 60's. The second owner kept it in a little single car garage, using it rarely to take yard waste to the dump. Every part I have touched, shows wear consistent with the odometer having only flipped over once. It now shows just under 10,000 miles. This truck is an uncut, unmolested original. It has the factory spot light (original light re-chromed and ready for install), Hi-Fi radio (restored), Deluxe Cab, six cylinder (first year for the overhead valve), three speed and 3.92 differential. It is a heater delete model, although I purchased an original heater for it. I couldn't bring myself to install it, for fear of ruining the truck's originality. It has a custom bumper, which was fabricated by a local shop, decades ago. I've seen one more just like it. It also has a custom bed cover, which I built. It is hinged, padded and covered with the expensive convertible top material used on luxury European cars. It is the original color and is structurally sound. This is a cosmetic and minor mechanical restoration. The engine, transmission and differential are original, aside from a head replacement and normal wear items, such as the water pump, king pins, brakes, window regulators, battery and other such items. I upgraded the interior to cloth and carpet, without changing the original seat or panel configuration. The glass has the lightest bronze tint possible (in the glass - 50 state legal). All necessary chrome replating was done, as well as the nose piece on the hood. This truck drives straight and true, brakes well, and will run down the freeway with ease. I paid dearly for the original license plates, which the truck is currently registered under. If this truck goes out of state, I will retain the plates. I'd be more than happy to work with buyers, desiring a mechanical or other inspection, so long as it falls within a short distance. I also welcome questions. Sometimes they help me to learn, as well. I will do my best to answer any inquiries, to the best of my ability.
