Vehicle Detail
'74 Triumph TR6. Four speed (no overdrive). Originally white with light blue interior. Restored in the mid 90's by an unknown previous owner and painted two-stage dark green metallic (a non-factory color). Interior was changed to "new tan" (also called peanut brittle). Top is tan canvas (not vinyl) Caribou brand. The restoration is holding up well and paint shows well as at least an 8 out of 10. Interior is in good condition as well. No rips or tears in seats. Top has no tears and is in great shape. Rear windows are clear and pliable as they should be. Both the trunk (boot) and the engine compartment are clean and very presentable. There is an Alpine CD player installed, but the song of the inline six rumbling through a performance exhaust is much sweeter than any radio song. The body has no dents to speak of. There is one place where the paint is beginning to bubble, showing signs of rust below the surface. It is low on the front passenger side fender and luckily it is not very noticeable. This is a common rust area for these cars and to fix it would require pulling the fender and welding in a patch. The car is stored inside and not driven in the rain, so this area has not changed much in the years that I've owned the car. The engine was rebuilt at some point in the car's life. It is painted light green and not the factory black color. Also, the idle is somewhat lumpy, indicating that a hot street cam with more lift and duration was installed. The engine runs well and has not required any work on my part other than routine maintenance. I have replaced the radiator and the fuel pump within the last year. Several folks who have driven the car say it's a bit quicker than other TR6s they have driven. I don't know. I've only driven this one. The car handles like a go-cart and is a joy to drive on curvy roads. The previous owner made several mechanical upgrades to enhance the safety, drivability and reliability of the car. Brakes were totally overhauled with new master cylinder, hoses, pads and shoes. Seat belts were replaced with new retractable units. Points ignition replaced by Crane electronic ignition. Canister style oil filter replaced with adapter for modern spin-on filter. Low amp Lucas alternator replaced with higher powered Delco unit. The clutch was replaced and the flywheel lightened to allow for faster revs and at the same time causing less stress on engine internals through reduced rotating mass. All rubber suspension bushings were replaced with polyurethane and competition springs were added which lower ride height and aid in handling. Shocks were upgraded to heavy duty units out back and a rear sway bar was installed. Sloppy rubber steering rack bushings were tossed in favor of solid aluminum rack mounts, enhancing maneuverability and transmitting greater "feel" for the road. He changed out the factory exhaust for a Pacesetter performance system. It's definitely louder than stock. I have all the take-off parts and they will go with the car unless otherwise specified. In addition, I have several spare parts that I've collected over the years including another engine, two transmissions, a differential and many other lesser parts. These parts will go with the car as well. If you would like to see the car in person, let me know and we can set up a meeting. I am located in Midlothian, VA.
