Not time capsule perfect of course, its 6 yrs old, but still VERY WELL EQUIPPED, very nice quality and very well cared for.You'll be happy . Actually very hard to find with the Premium package . (Regular Sables and Taurus, all the lower packages are a dime a dozen.)I’ve driven it about 1500 miles on and off over the last few months as it sat on our lot for sale. I drove it twice to Maine recently when I needed a super comfortable, classy looking and dependable lux car to drive for a business trip .Wow. What a totally comfortale trip. Really really nice. Just a real nice vehicle. Frankly, when I get in it after a hard, hasseled day, just driving it - it's just therapeutic. The comforts and toys and amenities – just the sheer richness of the leather and the ultra cold AC cutting through the humidity and the smoothness are enough to actually make life itself look a little better! --------------------------------------------------Some details: The engine is Ford’s ultra high quality and successful 3.0-liter Duratec V-6, a 24 valve twin cam engine that cranks out 200 hp and 200 lb.-ft. of torque. Its the same dependable gas economy 3 liter engine, with all the dependable components but with the 24 valves. Such nice engine performance ,but with the same nice, low maintenance engine. Great design, trouble free. Good powerplant .[Note : the right engine in a car is critical. Lots of "pretty" or "upscale " cars look and in the near term perform great. But its the "over time " factor that counts. Many of them , though looking good now, eventually develop serious mechanical issues . This Taurus Sable Duratec 24 V 3 liter motor itself is among the best in that regard. A great power plant - an extemely important point.You'll find its much more fun and responsive than a normal Taurus ( The regular 3 liter, upon which this 24 valve 3 liter engine is based , is a much respected durable engine. It handles the job, but only develops 155 hp) ….This Duratec 24 Valve still has the same dependability and great gas economy (27 mpg highway, EPA rated =- check it for yourself ) of its more plain-Jane sister regular 3 liter, just much more responsive . It also employs the all-speed traction-control system. These model engines can easily go well more than 200K miles if cared for properly.This one is smooth, quiet, and strong. The underside of the engine is clean and clear, dry as a bone. No leaks or drips. Good power. Engine oil is clean, straw colored having been changed the day before I drove it to Maine. Transmission shifts correctly accurately and on time. Trans fluid is also as it should be, correct color and level.Air conditioning is COLD , COLD COLD and forceful. (I also drove it several days this last week.92 degrees and humid in MD ) Definitely possesses the extra chilling power to forcefully cut down humid summer air. Especially cold. Knocks down the summer humidity instantly with a barage of cold air. Its been so hot everwhere , you'll love this . The cold dry air just pours out when you open the door. Online Customer satisfaction ratings on the '04 Sable : shows this car scores at or near the top in Consumer rating at [Cars.com ] in every catagory: (Scores 5 on a scale of 5), Scores Extremeley well in Reliability(4.9) , Handling (4.7) and Value for the Money(4.7). and an amazing 7 out of 7 (100%) of people interviewed would recommend the 2004 Sable LS Premium to others. Adjustable eight way driver power seat . The seat materials are beautiful top of the line leather. The thick rich buttery kind. Comfortable and good looking. No question - This was a top of the line unit when it was sold.Passed Maryland State Inspection last year with my son, arguably the toughest state inspection in the counrty. (92 points checked, takes 90 minutes and costs $70. Ouch. )Brakes are fine. Four wheel disc brakes. All the time traction control system for even greater safety. ABS.You’ll will notice the steering is dead on straight. Take your hands off the steering wheel on the interstate for a while and it will track a well down the highway. No vibration, Smooth at highway speed.Handsome premium aluminum wheels – excellent condition – very sharp.Matching Firestone 16 inch tires with 75% tread left. Nice.Suspension is fine. Exhaust is fine. Out on the road smooth and comfortable at 75+mph. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Interior wise, as said it’s pretty luxurious. It’s superbly clean, with just the tiniest, tiniest hint of wear here or there. Seats are sumptuous. Carpets are a solid A-.And you’ll notice other nice touches:"Perimeter lighting" - You'll love the little touches - the little invisible 2 inch light that shines below both passenger and driver side door mirrors and lights your footing as you step out onto the side walk. . Comes on brilliantly when you open the door and remains on for 40 seconds as you walk away. Lighted vanity fold down mirrors on each sun visor. It also has for the other passengers, nice reclining seats, rear ceiling handles, rear fold down leather arm rest, complete untouched spare and jack set, rear fold out cup holders, heated mirrors, and faux rosewood inlaid dash accents . (no ,not real inlaid wood , but looks like it! )Paint and color-wise it's extremely nice . The "dark graphite " presents itself as a great color. Authoritative and stylish and an easy to color to care for . Good dirt masking qualitis if you'tre too busy to car wash weekly . Car's been waxed regulary.Body-wise, again a solid A-. Several small dings and small missing 2"piece of plastic in the grill louver. A hairline tear on the right rear bumper cover . No big deal. At more than 3 paces away you can't even see it. (see photos) (Minor stuff, but I have to mention .) No rust whatsoever. None.The car looks even better in the flesh than it does in the pictures . Normally digital photography enhances shine and looks. In this case the car is actually BETTER looking " in the flesh "than in the pictures. The very cloudy darkend of the afternoon day on which the pictures were taken doesn't bring out the real beatuy of the color. You'll be happy to find out its even prettier than pictured.
