Vehicle Detail
First, for those of you that have yet taken notice, a Honda CB-1 is not a Honda CB1000. A Honda CB-1 is a way cool, 400cc, little screaming bitch of a naked sport bike. I originally purchased this bike for my wife, as everything about the bike seems to be slightly downsized than a normal sized sport bike. As an example, she is five feet five inches tall, but can flat foot this bike. Even the levers are slightly closer to the handlebars than the levers on a regular sized bike, and the shifter and brake pedals are closer to the pegs than on a full sized bike. I can barely get my size 11 boots under the shifter and usually up-shift with the edge of my boot sole. It is as if the bike was designed for the Japanese market only, (which it probably was), and then brought to the U.S. without any changes made at all. Although I have had people tell me they are not all that rare, I live in the South and have been in the motorcycle industry for 35 years and this is the only one that I have ever seen. Naturally, once I saw it, I had to have it! Unfortunately, I was enthusiastically telling my wife’s best friend’s husband how cool and rare of a bike it was, and this bit of information then made it’s way to his wife, and then, of course, to my wife, who was then afraid to ride it because if she were to drop it, I might be upset. Things that make you want to go AARRGGHH!!! As a consequence, since 2005, the bike has had less than 100 miles put on her. I was keeping her at the shop and some unknown employee let another bike get too close to her, and the other bike’s lever scratched and cracked the original aftermarket Rifle fairing, put a tiny tear in the seat and scuffed the tail piece under the seat. I ordered up a new, perfectly color matched Rife fairing, although not identical to the original, with an amber short shield and the optional tall clear shield, should you want more protection for touring. I was injured a bit over a year ago and the bike has not been started or ridden since early March of 2009. I did not expect my injury to take this long to heal and, as such, did not put stabilizer in the gas and I fear the carb pilot jets will have to be cleaned. Just before my accident occurred, I had new Bridgestone BT45’s front and rear installed, new fork seals, bushings and oil, new oil and oil filter, new o-ring chain, (sprockets still very much okay, just original o-ring chain had surface rust), all new carb parts, jets, o-rings, diaphragms and gaskets, and a brand new fuel tank, (The original was beginning to show interior surface rust and I was able to get the very last fuel tank known to exist in North America at the time!). I think that was about it. Even at dealer invoice it was close to $1000 worth of goods and labor. The first time I listed this, several months ago, I could not get the bleeping camera to work and by the time I did the auction had ended. I become much to immersed in other things to list it again but I now have the time to devote the attention that it deserves. I seemed to have misplaced the mounting hardware from the original windscreen that mounts to the bike. Should it surface, I shall let you know. If not, I believe it is about $20 from Rifle. On Rifle’s website it shows my exact bike with the windshield in place. Also, as you can see in the pictures, the original fairing is barely hurt and could very, very easily be repaired as good as new. I just wanted a new one. I’m just that kind of Dad… I have posted many pictures and tried to show what few flaws that exist on the bike. Out of a possible ten, it would probably rate a solid 8.5 or 9.0 and only for the fact that the carb jets will almost certainly have to be cleaned, and the small tear in the seat would keep it from a 9.5. The scuffs may actually buff out and that vinyl repair that you can buy would make the tear very near invisible. I, myself, would first go for a new seat, but I do not think one is available. As you can see from the cobweb in one picture, I simply wiped the bike off. It has not been detailed. If it is pretty enough outside to detail your bike, it is pretty enough to be riding! The battery, new last year, has continued to hold a charge as I have kept it on my battery tender. My batter tender, cloth dust cover or matching Arai, do not come with the bike.I am not responsible for shipping the bike to you or facilitating the shipment in any way whatsoever. I do know some trucking companies that have hauled for me in the past and they have always either brought or delivered the bike(s) in perfect condition. I will be glad to get you in touch with one of them if you need help. The one that I like and use the most has been riding for over 40 years, both on the dirt and the street and now his boys also ride. I can almost guarantee that the bike will arrive on your doorstep exactly as it left mine. If you need help gettting it to your house, I can have them contact you if you need their assistance. Other than that, bring your helmet or a pick up with tie downs. If you are seriously interested in the bike, I will be glad to talk to you and supply any other pictures you might want, like the actual fairing on the actual bike, I will do my best to oblige. If you just want to want to ride, go buy someone else's bike, please.*Since I an unable to ride at the moment, and may not ever be able to ride again, I might consider, or be willing to consider, trading for a reliable vehicle or something else of value. As you can see, my stuff is not junk and do not waste my time trying to trade me your junk or half ass, half completed projects for the CB-1. If you have something nice but are not using it, just as I am unable to use the CB-1, I might consider it.* Below is a UK website with various articles on the Honda CB-1 which I thought was pretty cool.
