Hi Everyone and WELCOME to my auction! *PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS BELOW BEFORE PLACING YOUR BID: *Serious bidders only, please. Ebay members with less than 90% positive feedback (and/or fewer than 5 total feedback) must contact me before placing a bid. If I do not receive an email from these members, I reserve the right to cancel their bids. Also, there is a NON REFUNDABLE deposit of $350 due within 48 hours of the auction's conclusion. Further, full payment (in the form of cash or money order) is required within 7 days from auction's completion. (Please be aware that non-paying bidders will be reported to Ebay.) Should you be unwilling or unable to comply with these requirements, please refrain from bidding. I'm open to offers, so to encourage serious parties, I reserve the right to end the auction early. Please keep in mind that this is a 20 year old car and is not be represented as "perfect" in any way. Further, the car is being sold AS-IS. There is no guarantee-stated or implied. That being said, I have sold two cars on Ebay with excellent results (please see my feedback as a seller) and I realize how inportant it is to accurately present the car to avoid any potential "Buyer's Remorse". This rare gem is a great little car but is not being represented as being in showroom condition. Although its mechanically sound, the car does have the typical cosmetic shortcomings of a 20 year old automobile. So, with that in mind, please read the entire ad and feel free to ask any questions before placing your bid accordingly. As this is a NO RESERVE auction, the bid you place is the price you'll pay. I will not negotiate the price after the auction ends. That being said, let's get to the FUN part ! For your consideration, offered at NO RESERVE, I have an ULTRA LOW MILEAGE (94K miles documented by Autocheck) SUPER RARE (Only 2132 of the hand-made Reatta convertible were produced in 1990. An average of only 42 cars per state!) 1990 Buick Reatta convertible with a STRONG running 3.8 V6 engine and an ULTRA SMOOTH shifting automatic transmission. I have the original Bill of Sale from 1990. The car sold for an astonding $41,127 20 years ago! I've owned 4 Reattas over the years (all coupes) and absolutely LOVED them! So, when I saw this rarely seen color combo (When I posted this ad, there were only 5 Reatta convertibles available on Ebay and this is the ONLY black one) convertible for sale, I immediately drove 4 hours to buy it. Unfortunately, just as I was about to register the car, I ran into a bit of a financial dillemma. So my dreams of owning this awesome car have to be put on hold. Nevertheless, my loss can be your gain! So, if you'll bare with me, I'll do my best to provide a fair assessment of the car's condition. Mechanical: After driving this car on the highway at speeds of 75mph+, I wouldn't hesitate to drive this car ANYWHERE. The 3.8 V6 runs smoothly with NO misses, ticks, taps, or knocks noted. (The famous 3.8 Buick installed in the Reattas has long enjoyed a reputation of being considered "bullet proof" and should provide many more years of enjoyment.) The car's suspension feels tight and the ride is silky smooth. All gauges read as they should and the automatic transmission shifts perfectly. There are NO check engine lights on. The car runs cool and the oil pressure is good. No leaks of any note are seen. Although the car stops beautifully, I did notice a tiny squeak when I first applied the brakes. The sound went away after driving it for a few minutes. The oil is brand new. Exterior: I just had the car fully detailed and overall and the car's exterior presents well for a 20 year old car. The only exceptions of note are the following: The paint on the hood is faded (SEE PICS), there is one tiny ding on the passenger rear 1/4 panel (SEE PICS), the paint on the trunk is beginning to show some cracking (SEE PICS), there is a scuff on the bottom of the driver's side front fender (SEE PICS), and the driver's side fog light is broken (SEE PICS). Further, the convertible top has a couple of VERY minor rips (SEE PICS). Interior: In my opinion, the car's interior is in overall good condition with the exception of some rips in the leather of the driver's seat (although the 16 way power seat works perfectly) (SEE PICS), two very small cracks in the dash (SEE PICS), some rips in the center arm rest (SEE PICS), a crack in the plastic molding that runs along the top of the windshield (SEE PICS) and the two cracked sunvisors arms (SEE PICS). Further, the cigarette lighter is not working. The digital dash functions flawlessly and all components work well with the exception of the AC which would likely benefit from a freon charge. That's about it. Besides the original factory books and manuals, I have the ORIGINAL BILL OF SALE. I also have the title in hand and the car is available for test drives most days. The car is parked at my restaurant which is located within 15 minutes (or less) of the following bridges: The Verrazzano, The Outer Bridge, The Goethals and the Bayonne. Should you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to email. Thanks for your interest and God bless! It was a hand-made luxurious sports coupe produced at the Lansing Craft Centre in Lansing, Michigan and sold by the Buick division of American automaker General Motors from early 1988 to 1991. Like the Cadillac Allanté, it was based on a shortened version of the GM E platform used by the Cadillac Eldorado, Oldsmobile Toronado and particularly the Buick Riviera, with which it shared many mechanical parts, advanced electronics, and interior furnishings. While a sport compact car, it was only offered with an automatic transmission. It was also Buick's only sports car at the time. The Reatta sported its own unique body style and was crafted with an attention to hand finishing uncommon for a mass-produced automobile. Initially offered for 1988 as a hardtop coupe, a convertible version was added for 1990. The Reatta used GM's ubiquitous "3800" V6 with 165–170 hp (123–127 kW) and 210–220 ft·lbf (285–298 N·m) of torque with the highest output in the last year of production. The car sported a fully independent suspension, 4 wheel disc brakes with ABS, and front wheel drive. Top speed was electronically limited to 125 mph (201 km/h). The Reatta was rated at 18 mpg (13.1 L/100 km) in the city and 27 mpg (8.7 L/100 km) on the highway. Buick Reatta Every Reatta included a leather book containing the owner's manual, a flashlight, tire gauge, among other items. Each unit came with a "Craftsman's Log" with the signatures of the supervisors for the assembly of the car's various systems; these slightly unusual items were an attempt to sell the mass-produced car as one built with individual care. Buick Graphic Control During the first two years of production, the Reatta, like its Riviera stablemate, featured as standard equipment a touchscreen computer interface called the "Electronic Control Center", or ECC. The touchscreen controlled the radio and climate control functions and provided diagnostic access to the vehicle's various electronic systems and sensors, mostly eliminating the need for a diagnostic scanner. It also featured a date reminder, a trip computer, and a user-configurable overspeed alarm. This elaborate level of electronic equipment was off-putting for the more traditional "mature" buyers the Buick division was courting. The 1990 and 1991 Reattas were equipped with a more conventional electronic push button stereo, optional CD player, and climate controls. The climate control buttons and display performed double duty to replace diagnostic scanner capability formerly provided by the touchscreen display, however the trip computer capability was lost. The Reatta was conceived during a period in the early to mid-1980s when Buick was marketing higher performance editions of its vehicles (such as the turbocharged Buick GNX). However, midway through the development of the Reatta, GM decided to refocus the brand on a more traditional and mature image that was thought to be more in keeping with its core older buyer demographics. The resulting vehicle had a shape that carried performance car styling cues but provided little in the way of actual high performance. The lack of Buick's turbocharging is often blamed on the fact that Hydra-Matic, at the time, didn't have a suitable transaxle that could withstand the extra power. Buick Reatta convertible A sunroof option was added late in the 1988 model year. In 1989, keyless entry was added as a standard feature. In 1990, a driver's side airbag appeared with the more conventional instrument panel. In 1991, the engine and transmission were reworked with the "L27" 3800 and 4T60-E replacing the "LN3" and hydraulic 4T60, along with new 16" wheels and a cup holder. The coupe was joined by a convertible for 1990 and 1991. The convertible top was available in vinyl or cloth, and featured a glass rear window with electric defroster. When retracted, the top was protected by a rigid tonneau cover. The 1991 models were improved with power pull-down motors to assist in tightening the rear bow of the top to the tonneau cover. The Reatta was intended as a halo car for Buick, but sales, originally planned to be around 20,000 units a year, were extremely disappointing and GM announced the end of Reatta production in early 1991. [edit] Production Buick Reatta emblem Production is said to have begun in January 1988 and ended on May 14, 1991. However, various accounts of much earlier and later cars exist, and the handbuilt nature of the car and long development cycle makes accurately dating production difficult. As the former owner of 4 Reattas (One 1990 and Three 1989's), I know this is a terribly common problem with the model. The headlights on this car go up and down with NO hesitation (Thank God (lol!) ). Nevertheless, if I think of anything else, I'll certainlly add it. Happy bidding!
