Vehicle Detail

1993 Mercedes 300 SD NO RESERVE!!! I put items up for no reserve because I believe it’s the best way to run an auction. The car is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction early if an acceptable offer is made. Please feel free to send me an email with any questions, requests for other pictures, or to make an appointment to see the car. The number of features on this car is staggering. Owners of these cars find out new features they didn’t know about after years of driving them. Here are SOME: § Double-paned soundproofed glass. § Electrically-operated exterior mirrors can be folded at the flick of a switch to ease driving in narrow spaces. (Drivers side motor is out for folding, adjustment works.) § 'Parameter steering'’: a system which makes low-speed driving easier by reducing the effort required to maneuver in speed-sensitive situations such as parking. § Rear-parking markers, or guide rods. The rods extend from the rear corners of the trunk lid when in reverse, providing the driver with a guideline for rear maneuvers. § 12-way powered, heated front seats, with 3 setting memory functions and lumbar support. § Windshield wipers w/heated washer system. § Electrically-operated automatic-dimming inside rear-view mirror that ties into the seat and steering wheel memory. § Heated exterior mirrors. § Orthopedic seats consisting of several different air cushions in the seat that can inflate and deflate to find the perfect driving position. § Dual-zone climate control. (AC is non-operational. I don’t know why, but it IS the modern AC type, which can be re-charged.) § The climate control system could be set to operate for 20 minutes after the engine had been turned off. § Rear passenger illuminated vanity mirrors. § Self-Closing Doors and Trunk. The good: It does run, and can be driven away. Almost everything in the above list of features works (I noted in the list the items that don’t work), which is pretty awesome on a car this old, and with this many miles. It does get pretty darn good gas mileage for such a heavy car. (Above 30mpg.) It’s beautiful, and rides amazing. The interior is in fantastic shape. Current Registration (through this month). Never have to smog it. The not so good: The only mechanic I trust doesn’t work on diesel Mercedes’, so I’d rather just write down the symptoms, and let the car go at auction. I’ll be completely honest and not try to hide anything like other sellers would do. So here is what’s wrong: She smokes... sometimes a lot, sometimes a little. She burns a lot of oil. (I can guess what that smoke is.) Salvaged Title. The paint looks great from a few feet, but up real close you can tell it wasn’t a great professional job. A/C isn’t working, but it does use modern coolant, so it may just need a recharge. Why am I selling her? I have pretty reliable Toyota truck, and while I love riding in a big black Mercedes, I have bigger priorities right now, so the truck will do. I don’t know a diesel Mercedes mechanic I trust, so if you know one (or are one) feel free to come get a great deal and take this one away. It will drive away, but I can’t guarantee for how long. (My best guess is that it’ll get you where you want to go for a while. I’m sure she has some time before an absolute failure, but she definitely needs some engine work.) I will make myself available to show the car, evenings work best, as do weekends. Please don’t bid on the car unless you are willing to meet these terms: Balance of Payment will be by cash upon pick-up of the car. (Cashiers check or bank transfer is acceptable within one week of the close of the auction. If arranging shipping for the car, please give adequate time for payment to clear.) Shipping is the buyers responsibility, the vehicle is sold as-is, where-is. A non-refundable $100.00 deposit is payable at the end of the auction through paypal. On Jun-13-10 at 14:01:24 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention, the car has brand new brakes installed just a couple thousand miles ago on all four wheels.
