1960 Cadillac Eldorado - Barn Find To learn a bit more about me and Motoring Investments click on the "me" icon next to my feedback number(also check my feedback). Here is a running driving Pink Cadillac (Siena Rose) for restoration with only limited rust. Engine compression readings are 145 - 165 pounds in every cylinder. It runs, drives, steers and shifts quite well but would benefit from rebuilding the carburetor to eliminate stumbles, etc. When you watch the driving video you will hear an exhaust leak which I believe is the dounut at the header pipe. Much of the restoration work it needs is very basic and straight forward. And talking of "straight", the body lines are very straight and it does not appear to have ever suffered a big collision. The body gaps and shut lines are all quite nice to my eye. The odometer reads 54,098 but we must take that with a grain of salt. This car would be great for the do-it-yourselfer to do a "driving restoration". In other words drive it while you are restoring it. Click on the arrow button in the center of the photo above to view our short driving video. Apparently the last owner's neighbor's lawn sprinklers hit the passenger side every morning for the last year or so (before that it was garage kept) so the passenger side rear fender and the right rocker has some rot. Of course the top surfaces have surface rust where the paint has gotten thin (there was originally a vinyl top on the roof). This car came to San Diego, California from Texas and there is a registration sticker from 1997. It is currently on a California title. The undercarriage (floorboards) are remarkably rot-free (has the usual surface rust & a coating of mud presumably from Texas dirt roads). The undercarriage photos are towards the bottom of this page. Keep scrolling down to see the interior and engine bay photos. Word to the wise: in case you think you are going to try and swoop in at the last minute and win the auction for $9800 or $10,000, that is fine but there are probably 7 or 8 other buyers thinking the same thing. Don't get left out in the cold. I would suggest putting in your highest bid from the get-go like eBay advises and let them do the rest. Click on any small photo below to see its larger version Specific to the Eldorado are the rows of "jewels" on the rear grill. The Eldorado was equipped with unique chrome trim that starts at the vent window and followed the body contour to the rear bumper, then proceeded down and around following the rocker panel to the front wheel. It does NOT have the tri-power engine but does have the air suspension pump (still works on the front end). The A/C and heater functions will need to be serviced. Let us go over the Data Plate and decipher what it means... STYLE 60-6437 it is a 1960 and 6437 is the style number. BODYFW 132 is telling us the body number is 132. TRIM 54 gives the upholstery code. In this case the Eldorado is equipped with Siena Rose Cardinal Cloth and Siena Rose Metallic Leather seats with Chianti Maroon metallic accents for the dash and rear parcel shelf, Prairie Plum Metallic carpets and a "pink" headliner. On the same line, the next set of numbers display the Paint Codes of 98-1 That code is for Siena Rose (98) and the 1 would indicate the Vicodec material top that was Ivory (1). The top is again on line three TOP 1 the ACC (accessories) line tells us that the car has EHK options. The E stands for E-Z-Eye glass (a slightly tinted glass). The H stands for Heater and the K stands for Air Conditioning. Siena Rose cloth & leather seats. The Siena Rose Cardinal Cloth with Siena Rose metallic leather is absolutely factory original. The rear view mirror with day/night operation and the vanity mirror look good. The sun visors and headliner look to be in great shape. The cigarette lighter as well as the courtesy light just under the dash work properly. The Six Way power seats, horn and the front windows work(1 of the 6 ways is not working hard enough though). The right rear window is trying to work but appears to be stuck. Interior lights on the instrument cluster and driver's armrest illuminate for that late evening cruise. The power wing window motors spin but the glass is not moving (gear or cable?) Both turn signals and turn signal indicator lights that sit on front fenders work. This Eldorado is sporting the correct Deep Dish wheel covers... on all four wheels. These shots display the original trunk mats as well as the original paint color on the underside of the lid. The trunk and its patterned board panels. The following are the photos I wish all sellers provided (especially on cars I'd like to buy long distance). I've had to learn the hard way to take with a grain of salt, statements made by sellers. It pays to have a look underneath. It still has its front air suspension although the rear has been converted to standard spring suspension. New exhaust system from front to back. The undercarriage is solid. Only the passenger side rear fender and rocker shows rot-type rust. This was caused apparently by a lawn sprinkler that was hitting this side of the car each morning for a period of time. Undercarriage view of the affected passenger side rocker panel. Both floor boards appear dry and structurally sound. My main business is restoring European cars for other people. I have been licensed and bonded to sell automobiles in California for 25 years. I know cars and know how to describe them accurately. I have bought a number of cars on EBay and most were misrepresented either intentionally or unintentionally. I won’t do that to you. If there is information that is important to your purchase and you don’t see it in my description please ask. My direct phone number is listed below. Also, you may want to go to my web site to see the types of cars I have sold and the quality of the restorations that we do. (Click "Client Restorations" along the left side of the screen.) Just Google “Motoring Investments” or go to my eBay "me" page for the link. This car will be sold under California regulations. We will fax, email or overnight documents that need to be signed and sent back such as the sales agreement, buyer's guide and power of attorney for the California report of sale. By bidding you agree to these terms. If you live in California, in addition to your winning bid we will be collecting sales tax at the rate in your county and city plus a document preparatory fee of $55 and DMV registration and transfer fees that will be determined at the time of sale. General disclaimer: It would not be feasible to list every minor flaw on an older vehicle (and all cars tend to look a bit better on the computer monitor). Minor imperfections come with driving a car in the real world. Due to the state of materials technology available when vintage cars were designed, expect some minor seepage of lubricating fluids. If you have any question at all about the condition of this car please don’t hesitate to ask. 10. A fair reserve is set. Sorry, but to be fair to all I will not disclose it. 11.
