Vehicle Detail
I am selling my 2000 TDI Golf. I purchased this several months ago and really need an automatic since my other half cannot drive a manual. I heard about this car from a friend who knew I was looking for a tdi and purchased it from who I beleive to be the second owner. He was an older gentleman that owned an antique store and used this car like a truck. He stated to me that he had transported several dressers and grandfather clocks in th back of it.....an when I went to look at it it was parked in a barn and the back seats were not even in it. This being said, the maintenance on this vehicle has been kept up but the interior is dirty...there was actually a mouse nest under the hood and one in the trunk when I got it home and the inside smelled like mothballs. He said it had been sitting for over a year and we opened the hood, hooked up the battery and it started right up and it drove out nice. The car was very dirty and I was hesitant to purchase but tdi's are hard to come by so I bought it. I will describe it to the best of my ability and will not hide anything as I have a 100% rating and am an honest person. The interior is dirty but is all there...the glove box has a broken hinge and the gage clusters' clear plastic is cracked....the windows were tinted but the drivers side was scratched up so removed the tint from that window....windows should be re-tinted or have tint removed. The exterior paint still shines great but there are many superficial scrathes that may buff out or not....one along the drivers side that looks deep but cant get it to show up on pics....rear bumper cover is very scratched. Mechanically it is great...I had the vw shop change the oil with the good stuff and also replaced the oil filter, air filter. cabin air filter and fuel filter. The mechanic also noted that the brake fluid was low and brown but found zero leaks and suggested I flush the system so I had them do that also. The brake pads and clutch checked out fine. It has Goodyear tires with less than 10k on them. There was an air bag light on and abs/brake light on that worried me but the dealer cleared them and said the brake light was a left front wheel sensor that he cleaned and should be fine but on a trip back from Cincinnati it came back on....the cruise also does not work and the mechanic showed me where the ribbon from the turn signal stalk is broken going into the column....everything else works, just not the cruise. The A/C is not very cold but gets colder when you are traveling on the highway around 65-70. There are not really and door dings at all but there is a small dent in front of passenger side mirrior and on the passenger window upright frame....No rust on the vehicle though and very clean underneath! It also has a small hitch that appears to have never been used. I have driven the car a round 1000 miles and onthe highway have gotten 48mpg and averaged 40 in town.. It does run great and would trust it to drive anywhere but If I were to keep it I would have it professionally detailed and the cruise fixed.I also had a new cd player installed and it sounds awsome with an ipod/usb port on the front for using and charging your ipod. Feel free to ask me any questions and I will answer them honestly....I am listing for about what I have in the vehicle and may be interested on a tdi automatic trade. It does have a factory sunroof and the timing belt was done at 90k....It is not a show car but is still nice and is a TDI! Thanks
