This little Spyder has been completely gone through during the previous owners nearly 25 years of ownership. These Spyder convertibles are very rare and this car is the real deal. It was built at the Willow Run, MI plant, which was the only plant assigned to build the turbo Spyder models. The car is a two owner car originally coming out of the San Diego area. The car has lived its whole life in Southern California so you know it is as solid as a rock! The most recent owner was 85 years old and could no longer drive his baby, and it sat un-driven in his garage for the last several years. He still had respect for the car, keeping the battery charged and gas fresh as well as starting it up once every few weeks. The paint on the car is finished in Lemonwood Yellow, a 1966 Chevy color. Original color was Saddle Tan which can be seen in the old pictures of the car. I would describe the overall paint as a very nice driver paint job with a few small imperfections and chips, which have been touched up. Remember, this paint was done 15-20 years ago so it is not perfect, but looks great going down the street and still has a high shine and luster! The car has been completely inspected underneath from front to back and is solid as a rock as an California car should be. The car is riding on nice, original wheels and has older radial tires. All chrome trim, glass, and rubber seals are in good original condition and have not been altered since new. The interior is in very good shape all around. The seats are all in very good condition and look very nice with no rips or ware, which shows the quality of materials used in this car. The carpets are all very nice are not worn or damaged. The dash is like new and looks great! The stainless surfaces do show some small pits in a few areas. All gages and controls function as they should. The sound system is also very nice with the upgraded Am/Fm Cassette player and upgraded under dash speakers. All lights, gauges switches, and accessories work as they should. The bonnet is nicely painted and in show condition. The top is in good shape with no tares or ware marks and still shows great for an older white top. Mechanically, this Spyder runs GREAT! The car starts right up and shifts smooth as silk. A lot of time and money was spent under the hood of this little Corvair. The motor is a fresh rebuild with less than 1,000 miles on it. The previous owners Son-In-Law who was a Corvair expert pulled the motor about 7 years ago and tore the motor down and did a full rebuild including new bearings, rods, mains, lapped valves, rings, and honed cylinders. He then put it all back together with a new seal kit and re-installed. He also did a rebuild and cleaning on the turbo charger as well. By his estimates his dad only put maybe another 1,000 miles on it since the mechanical overhaul. The car starts up and runs like silk. It also is tight as a drum and leaks nothing...extremely rare for a Corvair! Brakes, fuel system, suspension were all done at some point during his 20+ years of ownership. He always did his own work and made sure it was in tip-top shape. Under the hood looks fresh and show detailed with nice paint and chrome through out. All in all, this is truly one of the coolest Corvair convertibles on the road today. Its early vintage sets it apart from all of the others.
