It all started for us in 1979 when we came across this 57 Vette without a motor and tranny !!!! It had been purchased in Southern California in 1967 by a US service man and updated at that time with a 327/350 hp engine. When he was discharged from the service in 1973 he made his way to New York where the car is today and where we found it in 1979 when we purchased it. What we did The '57 had sat unused until around 1979 when we purchased it and went through a complete frame off rebuild. The project which we worked on with my buddy spanned over several years and entailed extensive chrome plating of all the major chassis components, linkages, exhaust system, engine hardware etc. What did we think we were doing back then ?? The goal in the early 1980's was to create a dedicated show car but once the project was completed it was sold with never have been to a show !! My buddy started a new business venture and the car was history. The new owner drove it selectively and it was primarily placed in storage. I followed up on the car a few times through the years but was never able to locate its whereabouts until six years ago. I then received a lead on a possible new owner and after a few calls and a visit to see the car I was able to purchase it back. The 57 Goes Home Again !!! (MY Home !!) This 1957 Corvette's History

It was 31 years ago that we first came across this very special Corvette. It all started for us in 1979 when we came across this 57 Vette without a motor and tranny !!!!

It had been purchased in Southern California in 1967 by a US service man and updated at that time with a 327/350 hp engine. When he was discharged from the service in 1973 he made his way to New York where the car is today and where we found it in 1979 when we purchased it.

What we did

The '57 had sat unused until around 1979 when we purchased it and went through a complete frame off rebuild. The project which we worked on with my buddy spanned over several years and entailed extensive chrome plating of all the major chassis components, linkages, exhaust system, engine hardware etc.

What did we think we were doing back then ??

The goal in the early 1980's was to create a dedicated show car but once the project was completed it was sold with never have been to a show !! My buddy started a new business venture and the car was history.

The new owner drove it selectively and it was primarily placed in storage. I followed up on the car a few times through the years but was never able to locate its whereabouts until six years ago. I then received a lead on a possible new owner and after a few calls and a visit to see the car I was able to purchase it back.

The 57 Goes Home Again !!! (MY Home !!)

It was a great experience to get to enjoy the car again and work to upgrade it after so many years but, I now need to free up some space so it is in need of a new guardian.

Details about the Corvette:

• Perfect frame - never any rust or damage
• Paint is "good" - it does have small nicks and scraps from storage and limited good weather outings
• Engine is from a 1960 Corvette - block No# 3756519 - casting date Dec 10, 1959 - Pad 101735 - F1217CQ
• Was rebuilt during the restoration with an after-market hydraulic cam
• Has new style Edelbrock manifold and carburetor
• Original four speed car - not the original transmission - has a B&W T-10
• When the car was restored we found evidence that it was originally a White with Red Coves and Red interior car
• Owner in California confirmed that it originally had a power top which he removed for needed extra storage when he returned to New York
• Hardtop only now
• Wheels are "True Spoke"
• Tires are Goodyear NCT's

A Special Car

The car is a real joy to drive as it takes you back to a simpler and fun time in history. It is also amazing the interest that you get from people both older and particularly the younger folks. Many have never actually seen a 1957 Corvette in person before. As the Chevrolet Ad in '57 stated "A Special Car for Special People" !
