Vehicle Detail
I'm selling my 1995 Ford Thunderbird. It runs, but is leaking oil and has a handful of other problems. The car has run very strongly for a long time (we are the second owners, we purchased the car in 1997.) but now is starting to have some problems that we don't know how to fix. It leaks oil (maybe a half quart every couple hundred miles) and as I said, we don't know how to fix it. We have regularly maintained the car in terms of making sure the fluids and filters get cleaned and changed. The breaks and tires are in good shape, and we replaced the radiator fan a couple years ago. That fan, however might be making what is a pretty high-pitched noise at high speeds. It sounds to us like a ball-bearing is squeeking, but again, don't know how to fix it. It is within the realm of possibility that these could be easy fixes for someone who knows what they're doing. As I tried to indicate in the photos, most of the body is in pretty good shape, although there are paint chips here and there, (as you might expect from a car of this age) like in the front and along the sides of the trim. The odometer reads 129,088 but it doesn't always work. I don't know why, but it only runs sometimes. This started a couple years ago, and I would expect that the mileage is closer to 150,000 or 160,000, but I really have no way of knowing. The cd player is a little moody, meaning sometimes it takes a while to turn on, almost as if the wires are loose a little, but it does always work eventually. Also, the passenger side power lock broke, so the key no longer works, you have to unlock it from the inside. I suspect that some of these types of problems might be common in a 16 year old car, but I'm trying to be forthright about everything. These are all problems that I've dealt with, so maybe you can too! All in all, I think the car would be great as a parts car, or to drive if someone can fix some of the problems. (Most notably the oil leaking and the whine at high speeds.) As I said before, the car has run strongly for a long time. It feels good and is comfortable. The body is in pretty good shape and it looks great for a car its age. I love this car, and it pains me to get rid of it. I'm now driving a Toyota Corolla, so you might imagine that I'm kind of bummed. So, I hope that one of you car guys or gals can take it off my hands and breathe a little more life into it. The winning bidder will be asked to PayPal half of the money within 7 days of auction close. The other half will be due prior to pick-up. The buyer is responsible for transport or shipping. NOTE: the car is drivable but not currently insured and registered, so the buyer will have to drive with temp plates and own insurance. Happy Bidding!
