you are looking at a good candidate for restoration either resto mod or show room restoration 1968 mustang convertible here are the specs from a vin decode provided by Marti Year: 8 1968 Plant: F Dearborn, MI Body Series: 03 Convertible Engine: J 302 4v V8 Unit: 125472 125472 Miscellaneous Vehicle Data Body: 76A Convertible, Standard Interior Color: F Gulfstream Aqua Metallic Trim: 2K Lt. Aqua Kiwi Vinyl, Standard Interior Date: 14M December 14, 1967 D.S.O: 33 Detroit Axle: 5 3.00:1, Conventional Trans: W C4 Automatic as you can see the vehicle neds a complete restoration I bought this withthe intention of doing so but have since decided it is more project than I want to deal with. the photos show Mickey thompson slotted mags on the rear these are not included with the car it has the front space savers and the rears have a stock steel wheel. I have some additional parts for this car that are in other listings. a little info on a 1968 mustang in 68 ford endured a strike where the number of cars produced for the year were significantly fewer than previous and later years. the marker lights on the front and rear fenders were changed after the strike to speed production. this is I am told a pre strike car. a previous owner removed the 302 v8 and installed a leter straight 6 in this car. the motor is not currently running but ran when I bought it. I have done nothign to this car other than move it. the interior is complete and we have pulled the dash pad to verify the secondary vin plate matches the door. the data plate in the engine compartment was not present as it apears this vehilce at one point in its life had some collision work done on it. car is being offered at auction and can be viewed locally in painesville ohio by appointment car is offered for sale locally and auction may be ended at any time. if you have any questions feel free to email or call me 440-550-9282 vehicle will need to be picked up within 10 days of auctin close and only upon complete reciept of funds due. a 500 non refundable deosit within 10 hours of auction end must be recieved and complete payment made prior to arrival to pick up car. vehicle will require some extensive sheetmetal work obviously floor pan rear quarters front right torque box is questionable as well as rear right frame rail and spring mounting areas the vehicle does include the deluxe hood with turn signals marker lights as well. possibly making this a deluxe edition which production numbers for that year were a low 3339 vs standard edition production of 22037 not sure how to verify this it does also include a power top motor but the rams have been disconnected and apear to be seized in the up position but are present. thank you for looking On May-11-10 at 15:31:10 PDT, seller added the following information: Please read Change as of 5/11 update as of tuesday 5/11 when looking at the title for this vehicle the title which is in my name the vin character J is listed on the title as the letter F which weould identify this as a 302 2v motor vs the J which is the 302 HO motor. depending on who you talk to regardingmustangs this option was/ was not available that year. it comes down to dealing with a state entity and to have this corrected I will need to coordinate with the high way patrol, DMV and county Agency. I am in the process of working this out but am leaving the auction up as it stands. the Vin on the car Shows the J code and there are two plates to verify. These match it is obviously a typo from 1998 when the title was changed from PA to Ohio but documentation of this is not available at the county. they are relying on hollander data showing that F is an option so it has to be verified which requires the state DMV to make a statement. AS it stands I will sell the car as the title stands And aid in the process of initiating this change I will not hold up the sale for this. bidding at this point is with the understanding that the title is one character off from the vehicle vin and there is a paper trail and documentation that will be needed to corrected if you agree please bid away otherwise sorry for the state of ohio motor vehicles mistake and my apologies as they apply.
