Vehicle Detail
Enthusiast owned, rare 16V S model maintained to a very high standard. This has been a fun and very good car for me the last two and 1/2 years. I have kids that are growing, and it is time to move on. I am an instructor for several car clubs, so the car is always maintained to a level that I could feel comfortable taking one of my students out on the track at any time. Because I use my 944 Spec race car most all the time, it's only seen the track twice in the past two years, but performed flawlessly each time. Most of the time, it's a fun, part time daily driver (I rotate this and my Audi A3). Because I use it regularly, and have fixed and upgraded many parts from the 944 race cars I've built, it a very complete & solid car. AC blows cold, the center console is not broken, carpet is good, power seats & hatch release work, even the digital clock & timer works - not common things in these 20+ year old cars. It has never been hit, is not rusted. It is not a concours/show car, though it is very presentable. Though the paint shines up well, but there is one area of sun bleaching on the rear fender that you can see in a picture below, and several little dings & touched up areas. No bondo! No wrinkles or accident damage. It looks awesome until you get very close. The seats have no tears in the leather, though the seams have split about 1" between the front of the bolster and seat bottom. This can be seem in the pictures. The sunroof was backdated to the manual latches, which work well. The dash has a cap on it (is cracked underneath that from the sun). Overall, a very good looking & presentable driver, just not a show car inside or out. Mechanically, this car is ready for a cross country trip, or to go out on the track. Having raced 944's for years (not this one - I race wheel-to wheel with a roll cage, etc.), I know these cars well. I bought this particular car, because it has records to show it's been well maintained for years, and it had the rare dual airbag, and rear lap+shoulder belts. When I got it, I went through this one thoroughly: Within the last year:-New 225/50/16" tires all around-New front and rear disk brakes, with Hawk HP+ pads.-Rebuilt brake calipers front & rear, with new seals-New catalytic convertor, and performance exhaust-New clutch salve cylinder, and rebuilt master cylinder-New ignition lock-Replaced rear carpet & clock with better examples (from gutted race car)-Oil & Filter changed (Mobil 1 Oil)-Air Conditioned serviced, with new seals as needed Last 2.5 years/ about 9K miles I've owned the car:- Bosch rebuilt starter- Koni Yellow shocks-"Front of Motor" service - belts/waterpump, rollers, etc.-Rennbay balljoint kit - the expensive one with the brass cups.-Cam chain tensioner rechecked (previously replaced), while cam cover oil leak was fixed-Heater mechanism serviced-Front wheel bearings replaced-New air filter Within last 10K miles:-New clutch Within last 20K miles:-New cam tensioner, chain & sprocket-New reference sensors & crackshaft position sensors-New spark plugs & ignition wires-New engine mounts-New fuel pump & fuel filter As you can see - the major & expensive work has been done fastidiously. The car burns no oil, and runs strong. It does drip a bit of oil from the oil pan gasket, but not enough to affect the oil level. I have a gasket from my race car spares, that I can include with the car. The car has no rattles, though there is an occasional squeak from the back I haven't chased down yet - pretty good for a 22 year old car! I'll miss this car, hope it goes to a good home! No foreign checks, bank drafts, or scams - I'm quite familiar with buying & selling cars on Ebay. Please do not ask for the reserve price. I will consider shipping arranged by the buyer.
