Vehicle Detail

DESCRIPTION: mostly original and un-restored 1966 Dodge Dart 2 door sedan, in very nice condition, with one re-paint in the original dark blue; not a base coat/clear coat show car finish but a very respectable paint-job, with some chips and scratches from normal wear over the years. No dents or accident damage present. Seats, headliner and dash pad in near perfect condition, no rips or tears at all. I suspect this car had the infamous clear plastic seat covers most of its’ life. Rubber floor mats are OK but do have some splitting due to age. All glass including tinted windshield in excellent condition, with no fogging or separation issues, all windows roll up and down. The odometer reads 14,xxx miles, but the car is being sold "mileage exempt" due to 5 digit odometer. As solid as this car is, with the strong engine, I'm sure the actual mileage is 114,xxx. It's in too good of shape to be 214,xxx. No records or paperwork from previous owner’s to certify the mileage. DRIVETRAIN: original 225 cu. in. slant six engine runs strong and does not smoke, leaks very little oil, has good compression numbers, and carries 45 psi oil pressure. The cylinder head is blue, the rest of the engine is orange, which indicates a previous owner probably replaced the head with a later model to get the hardened valve seats so unleaded gas could be used. The car currently runs fine on 87 octane unleaded at 7,000 feet elevation. Automatic transmission shifts well, no slipping, fluid is clear, no burnt smell and the tranny does not leak. Original 7 ¼” differential runs smooth with no wheel bearing growl, and does not leak fluid onto the ground. Manual drum brakes and manual steering. BODY: Minor rust for a car this age, I would say 95% rust free; the "bones" are very solid, with no structural rust issues. There is some bondo in both lower rear quarters behind the rear wheels, the repair was done after the car was re-painted, so there is some color and texture mis-match evident, more visible on the driver's side. My camera could not capture the image of the repair very well at all, so I am mentioning it here. Rear seat floor pan behind the driver has rusted through, due to a water leak at some point, the hole is about the size of a football; tops of both front fenders are just starting to show some rust, not bad for 44 years old; trunk pan is solid as a rock, with only some surface rust, no holes. Unless it came from the desert SW, almost every mid-60's MoPar A body has some rust here and there. This is a very good "driver" condition car, it looks outstanding from 5-10 feet away...but it is not a show car. NEW PARTS AND UPGRADES: new fuel pump and fuel filter; re-built single barrel Holley carb; 1 year old battery; 4 new Monroe gas shocks; recent 2 1/4" aluminized custom-made single exhaust with turbo muffler done by Front Range Muffler, Colorado Springs; very nice re-chromed rear bumper with powder coated rear bumper brackets; all new brake shoes, drums, flexible brake hoses, wheel cylinders, and internal brake drum hardware front & rear, including new front wheel bearings; also upgraded with a re-built '67 Plymouth Valiant dual bowl master cylinder with front/rear divided brake lines for increased safety; Four 175/80R13 radial tires in excellent condition, 2 are brand new Firestone’s, on the original blue steel wheels with wheel covers; everything on the car works as it should; front end just aligned, the Firestone Tech said the front suspension was very "solid". NOTE: a set of four 14" MoPar A Body 4 inch bolt circle Rally Wheels and like new BFG T/A RWL tires available for separate purchase by the winning bidder at additional cost, including a 14" spare tire and black steel wheel. They are NOT included in the winning bid price for the car. HISTORY: Car was purchased new in Washington State and spent most of its’ life there. I have the original Certi-Card with first owner’s info and Owner’s Manual with matching VIN # and first owner’s name. Fender tag is still on the car, but no build sheet or window sticker were found. The Dart was on display at the Pioneer Museum in Murdo, South Dakota for a few years , then sold at their annual Auto Auction to a classic car dealer in Denver, who I bought the car from in January, 2005. So the car has been kept inside in dry central Colorado for the last 5 years. Clear Colorado title in my possession. NO TRADES, I am trying to reduce the number of toys we have. GENERAL: I would welcome and encourage any potential bidders to have the car independently inspected prior to the end of the Auction. I will also work with any reasonable shipping company the successful bidder chooses to get the car loaded locally. The complete and total cost of shipping is the responsibility of the winning bidder, and is not included in the final auction price of the car. No discounts after the auction is over will be given, to "help out" with shipping, so don't ask. I can store the car up to 30 days after the end of the Auction at no charge, but more than 30 days will require a storage fee (I’m running out of room for cars). Car is for sale locally also, so I reserve the right to end the auction early if the “Reserve” has not been met. Once the Reserve Price has been met, the car will sell on e-bay. If you want to buy the car prior to the end of the auction, contact me and a “BUY-IT-NOW” price can be added to the auction. DISCLAIMER: this is a 44 year old car, with over 100,000 miles, and is being sold “as-is, where-is” with no warranties expressed or implied. I have done my best to describe the car accurately and completely, but there might be things I missed. Please contact me through e-bay for any additional questions you might have. On May-13-10 at 15:37:44 PDT, seller added the following information: In response to the numerous e-mails I received about why I am selling the car, and asking what my reserve is..... I will not disclose the reserve price, but I do have more than $4000 invested in this car, including the purchase price. Some of the money was spent bringing this car up to the level it should have been when I bought it, other money was spent improving it to a higher, safer level than when I bought it. I do not expect to make any money on the car. I would just like to get back as much of the original purchase price as I can. Once the bid price moves into the $2000 range, I will possibly lower, or remove the "reserve" to get the car sold this weekend. This is not a "test" of the market, I do want to sell this car. The car is for sale, because I recently purchased an original 1966 Barracuda Formula S, and I cannot afford to have both cars, plus I don't have the space. The auction ends this coming Sunday evening, so bid high and bid often, so this little blue Dart can move on to her next home.On May-13-10 at 21:44:26 PDT, seller added the following information: If you have "0" or negative feedback, your bid(s) will be cancelled...!!! A scammer tried to hijack this auction, so those bids have been cancelled.
