This is a 1966 Buick Special Coupe that we took on trade towards a 69 mustang we had for sale. Car was sold new in Nampa Idaho, and has stayed in the area since that time. Car has been with the same family from new. And was bought from her estate by a friend of mine. He intended to repaint the car and give it to his son in AZ. so he could drive it to school. Well you and I both know you do not just repaint a car. One thing led to another and before you know it, you have just restored a 1966 buick special. Car was a nice clean rust free car, that was stripped to bare metal and painted 1993 Ford Cobra performance red. Paint was cut and polished, shows very well. The 225 fireball V6 was fully rebuilt and painted. All belts, hoses, clamps, stickers, radiator everything in the engine bay was rebuilt or replaced. Brakes were redone, new brake hoses. Bottom of car was cleaned and undercoated. All suspension parts were cleaned and painted. Rear end is a 2.9:1 gear ratio. Transmission is a super turbine 300 2-speed automatic, and shifts smooth. Has power steering and standard brakes. Bumpers, door handles, scripts and hood ornament all rechromed. All stainless steel trim was polished. Rims are chrome five spoke cragar ss 17's. And we do have the stock rims and hub caps that will go with the car. The whole interior was replaced. New headliner, door panels, seats, carpet. They do not reproduce the interiors for specials. So a reproduction skylark interior was used. The worst part about the car is the headliner. The owner insulated above the headliner and it caused some wrinkles. By removing the pinch molding on the sides, and pulling out the insulation. A person could get the wrinkles out. (easy fix) All new window and door handles. All glass is free of any chips and scratches. Windows roll up and down with ease. All of the gauges and lights work, with a new temp and oil pressure gauge mounted under the dash. To get away from the warning light gauges. Trunk was sand blasted and repainted with a new rubber mat. Radio works, but is an AM only so all you get is Rush Limbaugh, religious programs, country and Mexican music. To sum it up. It is a very nice clean car, that has had a frame on restoration. If you are in the market for a 66 buick special. It would be hard to find a cleaner car. Would be a great car for a high school student. Or for somebody wanting a classic car that will not break the bank. I would not be afraid to jump in the car and drive anywhere. We have put over 4000 miles on it and have not had one single problem.
