Vehicle Detail

Rust free Nevada truck drove to Wisconsin 3 years ago for purpose of complete restoration. I have too many other interests - time for this one to go. The truck runs and drives although needs work - more details to those with interest enough to come look at it. The truck has some bondo from dings dents and chips but absolutely NO ROT. The most rust is on the INSIDE floorpan under the wet green shag carpet the prior owner used for insulation (see photo). A very solid foundation for a street rod. The engine is the 351 M, trans is 4 speed manual with granny gear (very low gear). Four wheel drivetrain works perfect. The guy before me did a lot of suspension work and it is tight. No chips or cracks in glass. It would be a shame - but this truck would also make a perfect plow truck......or heaven forbid - "mudder". Unfortunately for me - the first time I used it, I hit a deer causing front right bumper and fender damage - minor. I bought a spare 351M to build while using truck as is, and bought a Ford C6 automatic transmission with transfer case to convert this to automatic. Spare engine, auto transmission, and xfer case go with it. Truck was orignally equipped with factory air - condenser and compressor remain. Although $2500 is a steal - if you waved $2000 in my face I might be moved to take it. I live in the city with 6 cars and two boats on my property. The neighbors are complaining and I need to move it or store it. Call 608-921-1074 Bruce. Vehicle sold AS IS - WHERE IS. Local pickup or can be delivered for $2.00 per mile up to 200 miles only. ABSOLUTELY NO FOREIGN BUYERS - NO SHIPPING OVERSEAS - ALREADY KNOW THAT SCAM SO DON'T BOTHER. Wow! Truck didn't sell but the low offer-meisters sure came out. Relisted. Won't be sold for less than 2k. If you pester me with an offer under that I won't answer you. On Apr-18-10 at 07:34:43 PDT, seller added the following information: The photos are dated 4 years ago but they are only from last summer. Stupid camera date was stuck and I didn't take time to learn how to fix it. Will take more photos today - interior, box and bottom. Also please disregard comments about pricing. I used the ad locally last year and just copied it here. The truck is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction if starting bid is not met. But if the starting price is bid - the Ebay auction will go on. On Apr-18-10 at 11:03:36 PDT, seller added the following information: Ok Guys - I added a bunch of pics. First off, I'm 54 years old - not some punk who doesn't know cars. That being said - I added the pics you want to see....if you know anything about old cars. You want to see the bottom. Especially the body mounts. All on this truck are solid as a rock. In some pics you can see surface rust on the frame, then a flaky gray/black material. The flaky material coming off is the original factory frame paint. Look at the cab and bed body mounts - solid - even the rubber isn't bad. Speaking of rubber, did I mention the new Bridgestone Dueler A/T tires have less than 3000 miles on them? Look at the pics and start bidding. I guarantee this truck is solid as a rock...no rot. Minor surface rust only. There is a litle bondo - but not hiding rot. See the pic of the side of the bed. As you can see - it is not straight. The prior owner did some bondo and paintwork. I'm guessing the bed had dents and he didn't want to separate the inner bed from the outer bed to pound out the dents. So a rookie got after it with bondo. Big deal - still solid as a rock. This is the real deal - the one you've been waiting for. See the driveshaft pic? Tip your head sideways and read the tag - Sparks, Nevada. Notice the "tin" on the bed? It protects the bed contents from exhaust heat. I never saw it intact on a Wisconsin truck - usually rotted off in the first 3 years. Prior owner replaced that driveshaft, I did the front one. Comes with spare engine and automatic C6 transmission with addnl xfer case. Call if you have other questions. If you win the bid then come here and can find any rot - I'll eat your ash and let you back out of the deal. 608-921-1074 Bruce Ok - just added pic of dashboard panels, ashtray, new speedo cable (and new pink speedo gear you cannot get anywhere), bracket/pulley for A/C belt tension (and new pulley/bearing), seal for xfer case, window wash bucket, jack hold down bracket. On Apr-19-10 at 09:14:21 PDT, seller added the following information: I failed to mention Payment terms. I would like to see a $200 deposit within 3 or 4 days of end of auction (cashiers check or Paypal or cash). The balance should be paid in full within 7 days thereafter and prior to pickup. If you live far from Wisconsin, please talk to me about extending the pickup time due to logistical challenges. Otherwise please do not bid if you lack the cash to cover your bidding. I don't want to wait until you get your tax refund or whatever else - I'm sure you understand. Let's all be responsible and reasonable. Thanks. On Apr-20-10 at 14:30:26 PDT, seller added the following information: Continued answer to questions - The vibration is probably caused by an inbalance condition resulting from people working on it. The vibration causes a harmonic vibe transmitted throught the floorpan, seat, steering - everywhere. It is not due to drivetrain or drivability issues. It comes from the motor. Race cam? Maybe. More likely that somebody mixed parts from a 400M into this 351M. The harmonic balancers are different as are the flex-plate/flywheels. After a number of miles, the power steering cap unscrews itself and comes off from this vibration. I have the cap - but you'll notice in the photo duct tape on the PS pump. Thats why. I hate to steer away a potential buyer but I fear this truck is not what you are looking for. When you question if a bare bones, rust free, 79 shortbox, street rod builder foundation runs well - it tells me either you don't realize what you are looking at, or don't have the capability of building it. You might be better off adding $5000 - $10,000 to whatever money you already have a buying a finished truck. Other answers: I don't believe the radiator support is damaged from the deer hit. But the hit was such a sharp impact - the radiator began to leak. I took it to an old fart radiator shop to guy that was doing radiators in the 50's as a kid. He said he never saw a 4-row radiator come out of a 79 Ford truck before. He said he saw a 3-row once on a truck with factory air. He said this truck probably was equipped with a towing package as well as factory air. He said there was absolutely no corrosion to be found - only that the solder cracked where the core is soldered to the end tank. He resealed both tanks and the necks. From your requests for photos I have filled all 24 that Ebay allows. I'd send more of the deer damage directly to you, but due to the brotherly love of neighbors I rented space to park it 10 miles away. When I looked closely into the deer damage I didn't see anything that would make me think the deer hit made the radiator leak. There is no visible bendage or damage. The mass number of photos and descriptions I've given is way more than enough to make a decision on this truck. I'm not gonna rip apart the rear brakes and measure the linings or jump through any more hoops. If you can't tell what this is - I'll never be able to explain it. I will be more than happy to show the truck to any interested party and take test drives before the sale....anytime.
