Vehicle Detail
This truly beautiful and elegant 1963 Bentley/Rolls Royce is the perfect vehicle for the classic car collector who wants his vintage vehicle to be reliably road-worthy, easily serviceable and economical to operate. It would also be ideal for a Limo Service for Weddings, Birthdays, etc. Originally a Bentley S3, this classic English luxury motorcar was converted into the more popular Rolls Royce Silver Cloud III by the addition of a Rolls Royce grill, dash, gauges, and emblems. Then, years later, combining the vehicle's timeless elegance with more modern mechanics, the body and its leather interior were completely removed from the original Bentley chassis and re-installed on a professionallly-modified General Motors big-car chassis that included all GM components, including a new GM 350-ci V8 engine, automatic transmission, suspension, brakes, power steering and a tilt steeering wheel. You can drive this vintage-looking automobile everyday -- and any mechanic familiar with GM technology (that's virtually every mechanic in the U.S.) -- can quickly and inexpensively replace your brakes, tune your engine, or adjust its ride. No longer does it get a paltry and horrendously expensive 8-9 mpg using only high-test fuel; it now gets 20+ mpg on the highway on regular unleaded gas. A complete brake job, when necessary years from now, will cost under $200. If it was still equipped with its factory brake system, that cost could be as much as $5,000, as any classic Rolls Royce or Bentley owner will ruefully attest. Owned by the same owners for the past five years and driven regularly, this vintage car has made several trips from Ohio to Florida and back -- without a problem -- and comfortably cruised at Interstate speeds up and down the Appalachian mountains. Its crate GM 350 c.i. V8 runs smoothly; its automatic transmission is quietly efficient. It has air conditioning (blows cold), power steering, power brakes, and power windows (though one needs a fuse to operate properly). Although it is not perfect (it is, after all, a 47-year-old vehicle despite its modern running gear), it is truly a beautiful car. It has two fender-mounted rear view mirrors and another on the driver's door to complement its original dash-mounted interior rear view mirror. While owning this car may not make you friends of true Rolls Royce classic owners, because this Rolls is much lighter and far more fuel-efficient, you can effortlessly leave them behind on the highway and also while they're pumping premium fuel into their noisy, original engines or when they are stranded, disabled, on the roadside! It has beautiful two-tone blue-and-grey paint, near-new heavy-duty steel-belted wide white wall tires. Its biscuit-leather interior has no rips or loose seams. Its matching carpet is free of stains as is its headliner. This car is solidly reliable mechanically, having been driven nearly 10,000 miles with the only expenses being regular oil changes and fuel. It does not burn or leak oil or smoke. It idles smoothly, stops quickly and straight, and handles like the true luxury big car it is. An added bonus is a spare louvered-grill assembly should one ever be needed, and extra wheelcovers and trim rings. Shipping to be the responsibilty of the buyer. We can, however, arrange for low-cost shipping. On Apr-12-10 at 14:12:14 PDT, seller added the following information: PLEASE NOTE: Bid only if you are a resident of the United States or Canada.
