Read This First… This unbelievably super nice 1 owner car has, “Option Package 4” nearly the highest available option group, and includes “All Options”. Leather, Navigation, Bluetooth, Smart-key, HID & almost every available option! This car MSRP new would cost you roughly $31,000+tax & lic today. This one was new only 6 months ago. The Source for this car is Toyota Financial Services. (the auto finance division of Toyota). The owner bought it for business but the business plan fell short. The car is designed so that if you hit the gas and the brake at the same time with any effort, the engine drops instantly to idle power. The design of the brake pedal, always overrides any pressure on the accelerator system. Actually older Prius have this same system and it is totally foolproof. Do you remember that guy in the blue Prius and the CHP a few weeks ago? He lied on national TV, Or as Toyota & the US government put it. The facts of the car could not prove truth in his story. If you believe that guy even remotely might be telling the truth then take your car to a remote road and while your driving at about 30mph slip any car that you are driving carefully into neutral and slam the gas pedal to the floor. It is my professional opinion that this entire Toyota out of control thing is completely media/political baloney. I have 25 years in the car business. I worked as an automotive technician at new car dealerships including Pontiac, Honda, Chevy, GMC, Porsche, Hyundai, Ford, Chrysler, Mazda, & BMW. I also worked as a Government fleet mechanic/manager for over 12 years. Every manufacturer has had the exact same complaints against them since the beginning of the automobile. The sudden unintended acceleration was a big scare before for GM in the 90s. When I was working as a mechanic at Superior GMC Ontario in 1991 many people were bringing in GMC trucks & Suburban. We would replace every part of the Cruse control & throttle system. Consumer Reports independent experts have been examining this issue closely and report that no problem with the electronics can be linked to the reported issues. It my understanding that UAW union is a major financial supporter of democrats running for election this year. UAW workers work in all plants of GM, Ford, & Chrysler but Toyota workers are with a different union. Due to the big 3 having a major financial hit those big contributions are at risk. That guy on the TV claiming his 2008 Prius was out of control I allege is trying to get a spot on the Larry King & today shows. If he would have put the car in Neutral, the car would have stopped. The 911 dispatcher asked him if he would try that and he said no. That was recorded on the released 911 tape. He later stated in front of cameras that he didn’t know how to work the transmission shifter. It is basic driver ED101 foundation knowledge that if the car is placed in neutral, it will not have power to go forward. That is true in all cases of all the Toyotas. At this time 400,000 people have been killed in auto accidents during the last 10 years. 53 are POTENTIALY linked to Toyota but not proven to be caused by Toyota. The driver is always responsible to maintain control of the vehicle. All of those 53 cases are believed to be caused by the drivers by either the driver stepping on the gas rather than the brake or by the gas pedal being entrapped by the vehicle floor mats. If those drivers maintained control by way of putting the car in neutral then perhaps none would be dead or injured. Over the years government has had a pattern of going after the biggest companies. AT&T, Microsoft, Toyota and others have all felt the pressure.
