1948 Pontiac Silver Streak Sedan. Finished in dark green with a light tan interior. This Silver Streak is completely and totally original. A true survivor Streamliner V8 model, it has been well preserved and in good condition. The body is extremely solid and presents very well, showing only minor signs of light surface rust. The factory paint shows as original with a patina typical of a car of this age. A very well maintained interior is present and in excellent condition throughout, including all wood-paneled surfaces. Gauges are excellent, looking as-new and perfectly clear. The seats and seat covers are in especially good condition as well, with gorgeous surfaces and a fresh, plush feel. A factory drivetrain, including the straight-8 cylinder engine with no major parts replacements, the original Hydra-matic transmission, and the original rear end drive magnificently. Straight and peppy, this ‘48 is in all around excellent mechanical condition. A truly nice survivor that is a thrill to drive. After shaky auto sales in the early ‘30s due to the depression, Pontiac began to gain ground when it introduced its signature silver-streak chrome trim. Continuing to make headway into the early ‘40s with solid automobiles, the war eventually brought production to a halt as the US auto industry retooled for military supply. Reemerging in 1946, the Pontiac received some design changes with the ’48 model getting the most elegant grill of that model series. Record sales followed, and Pontiac’s place was cemented in history.
