Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1955 Imperial Newport 2 door Coupe, a rare model. I pulled it out of a farmers yard with intentions of making it roadworthy. Alas, my imagination is larger then my reality and my age is slowing me from crawling around on this old beauty. The very best features of this car that sold me is it is complete/original, and a two door hardtop with air conditioning, which is, in itself, a rare extra. Owner said it was driven in back about 30 years ago.Oil & trans fluid were clean (but I changed oil and filter anyway). The speedo shows 56,854 miles but can't be sure. I can't get starter solenoid to click, and can't get any noise from the starter to crank the engine. I brought a brand new Heavy Duty 6 volt battery ($100), so that is good. I believe someone tried to start the car with a 12 volt battery or got the ground polarity switched (these are positive ground in '55) because battery cables looked burned. I think solenoid got fried. Rest of car wiring looks good for it's age. This car is for restoration or parts and has some rust at base of trunk and at passenger B pillar seam. I tried to get these areas in pics. I was not going to start pulling off trim to search for more rust. What trim is not in pictures is in the car (ie: right rear wheel,B pillar,etc.). I pulled back front carpet and floors look very solid. The interior is baked from years of 100 degree heat in the San Joaquin Valley sun. The car is very dusty throughout.(Better dusty than rusty, I think.) There is a slight dent in the lower driver's door. Barely visible in picture. Items missing are the drivers door handle, passenger door glass, and the driver's B pillar crown emblem. All else appears to be there. I brought the car with the original PINK slip (2nd owner, dated 1976), but NO KEYS. I had ignition keys made. No luck getting in the trunk. It will be the new owner's treasure trove. No clue what's in there.. Much can be said about this car. I believe the pictures tell the rest of the story. This is a 55 year old car that has not been on the road in 25 years. Yes, it has the 331 HEMI. I have owned several 50's Imperials and value them right up there with the Cads and Buicks. Lots of lookers, no buyers... DON'T SEND ME YOUR PHONE NUMBER FOR "OLD MOPAR CHATS", OR "I CAN PICK IT UP WHEN THE SNOW MELTS" REQUESTS. SEND ALL QUESTIONS THROUGH THIS AUCTION PLEASE. WE WILL TALK AFTER YOU WIN THE AUCTION; I REALLY DO LOVE THESE OLD BOMBS (CAN I STILL SAY THAT????) I LOWERED THE PRICE FOR AN " EARTH DAY, GET IT OUT OF MY YARD" SPECIAL !! SORRY, BUT NO OVERSEAS BIDDERS (UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY $2500 US). PLEASE ASK YOUR QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU BID. You are buying this car AS-IS! I tried to give the best general description I could. I would like $500 deposited in my PayPal account within 48 HOURS of the close of the auction. Then a Cashier's Check, Money Order, Bank Wire or CASH (US) for the balance within SEVEN DAYS of close of the auction. The car must be picked up within TWO WEEKS of the close of the auction. Please understand my yard gate opens into an alley just big enough for a JERR-DAN flat bed tow truck, NOT an eight car transport. YOU MUST MAKE ARRANGEMENTS FOR A SINGLE CAR HAULER FOR PICKUP. Local Yellow Pages list many choices, all competitively priced. (Tow truck could then take car to any local location where a BIG rig could load it.) Thank you for your interest and bids.
