Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE This auction is for an incredibly rare 1971 Datsun 1600 Pickup Truck in nearly PERFECT condition! VIN#: PL521-458694 Miles: 58,271 (as of day pictures were taken) Boy, does it have a story… This vehicle was purchased nearly 40 years ago by a man who drove it to work and back, just 6 miles a day, for over 30 years! As fate would have it, he stored it in his garage at night, preserving the crystal-like sheen which is more than evident in many of the pictures I took earlier this week… He took care of this truck, recording some of his good deeds in the Warranty and Service Booklet which comes with the vehicle as part of the sale. I couldn’t believe the sheer number of ORIGINAL items which remain perfectly intact to this day! The original Wally Tucker Datsun, Inc. sales slip comes with the vehicle, as does the original key-fob, original Owner’s Manual and even the 2 little keys to un/lock the antenna!!! After working for the G.E.T. Bus company for decades, the old man who loved this truck for so long finally could not drive it any longer due to his declining health. Luckily, he sold the truck to a man in town about a year ago who grasped the rarity of this vehicle and who’s cared for it just as well, if not better, ever since. Included in the auction are the original jack, chains for the tailgate, and spare tire. Here’s a description of the truck itself: · Transmission: 4-Speed Manual · Engine: L16 4-Cylinder · Fuel Type: Gasoline · MPG: Avg. 26 City/28 Freeway · Runs: Like a Champ! The new owner says he’d drive to NY and back in this truck from all the way over here on the West Coast! After witnessing him turn it on several times for me, I can see why he’s so confident in this vehicle. It starts up every time with no problems, whatsoever. · Service Record: Normal oil changes on time, etc., some of which is even recorded in the documentation you’ll receive with the truck. This vehicle has been so well cared for, it still has the original BRAKES that came with the truck off the assembly line!! · Modifications: Virtually NONE! The new owner joked with me and said the only thing in the engine compartment that was different when it came out of the factory was the BATTERY! Everything else which was original and came with the vehicle on Day 1 is still on the truck (minus some expected items in the Regular Maintenance section, which I’ve listed below). · Additions: Some larger hubcaps cover the smaller, stock hubcaps. I couldn’t believe my eyes when the new owner removed the larger hubcaps for picture-purposes, only to expose the smaller, perfectly preserved, chrome hubcaps underneath. A metallic window-blind has also been held in place by little pins, partly-shading the back window of the truck from the inside. It doesn’t take away from the truck at all and makes for a cooler ride, temperature-wise. Finally, there are two door-protectors with a checkered pattern that form small, vertical strips along the end of each car door. They’ve done their job because there is literally no damage to either door! · Emblems/Stickers: All intact and original! Even the Paint Color Number tag which indicates that this truck was painted with Color No.546 is in good condition, and wow! The paint is still incredibly shiny to this day! · Radio: Original Datsun Radio - AM Band only!! I’m not joking, check out the picture I took! Lol This is the kind of thing that really makes your day if you’re a serious Collector. · Regular Maintenance Items: New Plug Wires, New Distributor Cap, New Rotor, New Spark Plugs, New Air Filter, New Tires with approximately 90% of their tread left. · Truck Bed: Very little surface rust on the inside of the bed; it has a remarkably small amount of wear considering it is almost 40 years old. · Truck Body: If you look carefully you can see the rivet marks left by the manufacturer, proving the pedigree of this Collector’s Item. Both bumpers are in amazing shape and the original owner even paid extra to have a more expensive, stock rear-bumper placed on the truck when he purchased it in November, 1970. · Smog: Exempt · Minute Damage: When I took the pictures for this truck, I also looked very carefully for any discernible damage. I could only find two items to report. First, there is a barely noticeable “dent” on the driver’s side near the rear-corner of the truck. It looks like the truck was tapped by some non-abrasive surface, almost like someone with really strong fingers pushed the metal in a little bit. The paint is still intact (except for a spot which is the size of a grain of sand) and it’s hard to see unless you really look for it. Second, the dash (like every other dash, it seems) has split right down the center, underneath the windshield, due to changes in temperature over the years. I’m including 2 pictures of these specific items for your reference (both instances are located directly to the right of my thumb in the pics), but rest assured, I had to look long and hard to report ANYTHING for this section! · Item of Note: All of you Collector’s out there already know this, but for those who don’t, this truck came with no rear-view mirror on the passenger side, just like every other Datsun Truck back in the day. This characteristic certainly adds to the authenticity of this vehicle. The owner has the pink slip, the title is clear, the registration is current and like I mentioned to him, this truck looks like someone drove it out of a time-machine, it’s in such good condition! For all the folks looking to add a vintage truck to their lineup, this Collector’s Item is truly one-of-a-kind. In fact, this truck is in such great shape that it doesn’t even drip OIL! (I know. I checked!) You probably won’t ever have a chance to find a classic truck like this ever again, not to mention one with less than 59k miles on it, so don’t hold back. Place your bid today! I boast a 100% positive-feedback rating with 181 positive feedbacks. Bid with confidence. Payment details: I will require a $1,000 (one-thousand dollar) deposit via Paypal within 48 hours of auction close. Bidders should have sufficient, positive-feedback history. ‘This is a vehicle that would make any bidder proud to win at auction.’ - Saul aka u2wish4 In true auctioneer form, I’m going to begin this auction with a Starting Price that reflects about half of what one, non-passionate bidder should be willing to pay. The Classic Vehicle Collectors (and they’re out there) know this truck could sell for a LOT more than that! No reserve! Thanks and happy bidding! P.S. The new owner is selling this vehicle because he needs the money to replace his roof.
