Vehicle Detail
You are viewing my 1980 Trans Am. I've always wanted one of these cars ( who didn't, after seeing Smokey and the Bandit ) and was finally able to buy this one, but due to an unforseen increase in the budget to finish my 69 Camaro, I am now hoping to find a buyer that will appreciate this car. Of course it's not the black and gold T/A with the 6.6 liter engine that Burt Reynolds made famous, but I bought this car because it is a one owner ,all original car-except for one repaint of the original and rare -bronze /orange color years ago. There are not many of these cars left that haven't been abused, wrecked or changed whether its different motors, wheels, etc. Should you buy this Trans Am, you will be only the second owner ( I haven't registered it yet ) in it's 30 years since being built. I will describe each part of the car so you can get an idea of the overall condition. It is a running, drving car but it does need restoration. The great thing about this car is that you can drive it as you are restoring it. I recently installed a new battery and new spark plugs and new transmission fluid. It starts right up and idles fine. It shifts through all gears. The brakes work, but should be gone through. I have the original buildsheet and the original 3 sets of keys with the dealer key ring on it. This car was female owned its whole life and was never abused. The engine runs smooth especially with such low original miles. I have driven the car and it still gets looks even in the condition it is in now. As for the body: The hood is straight but has a surface rust spot about the size of a two quarters side by side. The shaker is in perfect condition. The passenger fender, rocker and quarter panel is perfect. The door is also nice except for some rust along the bottom part of the door. Needs a new driver's door handle. The front and rear bumpers are nice with no cracks in the plastic or paint. The trunk top is straight as is the roof with no rust. The areas around the front windshield and rear glas is all solid with no rust except a dime sized spot near the back glass. As for the driver's side of the car, the front fender , and rocker are nice with no rust. The door is straight but has rust along the bottom part. The lower quarter is the only area where there is some bubbling behind the rear wheel. The rear spoiler is also in nice condition with no damage. All glass is nice and clear with no cracks. The rear floors are all solid and the front floors are solid under the seat areas and down into the inner foot areas but have some rust -through towards the outer corner of the foot area on the passenger and driver's side -golf ball size. The subframe is in good condition. The inside part of the body that you see when you open the door is all in nice shape. The trunk is solid except for a hand sized hole toward the right rear of the passenger side. The factory space -saver spare, jack and factory air cannister are all there. The interior needs to be re-done but is very useable. The front seats should be recovered. The rear seats are in good condition. The carpet is clean and still even retains the original floor mats. The console is in nice shape and there are some cracks in the dash. The gauge cluster is in good condition as well, and all gauges work! The car also has air conditioning and power windows. The door panels are good but need the pull handles replaced. The original steering wheel is still in nice condition. The engine is the 301 V8 with 77,544 original miles, automatic transmission, and factory posi rear. The car also has front disc brakes. Even though the car was repainted several years ago, the paint still has a nice shine along the sides and front / rear bumper areas. They never put the eagle and the rest of the decals back on the car, but Phoenix Graphics sells the whole kit for around $225. As can be seen in the pictures, the paint on the hood, roof, and trunk has faded. Thank you for taking the time to look at my Trans Am, it's a perfect car that allows you to at least be able to drive it as you re-do the car. The major components ( engine, transmission, and rear ) are all in working order. The car does need a new exhaust. The summer is right around the corner, this would definitely be a great ride to enjoy it in. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have, or if you need more pictures of anything specific. The Trans Am is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Thanks for your time. ***I WIL NOT ACCEPT BIDS FROM NEW EBAY BIDDERS- PLEASE CONTACT ME FOR A BUY IT NOW PRICE, THANKS***
