Vehicle Detail
1998 C43 AMG 4.3L (302 HP)Silver, Two-Tone (Black/White) Interior with ~150,000 milesClean Title3 Owners (including me, and I got this car less than 6 months ago)Has been in Orange County, CA all its lifeNo check-engine light I just recently acquired this car (June 2018) from an old female neighbor who was retiring and leaving the country. Based on the yearly registration papers, she's had the car since 2001 and she seemed to have been the 2nd owner. It appears to be a 2 owner car and she maintained it well (always in the garage, maintained at reputable shops). It looks excellent on the outside with the front headlights not showing any yellowing. The car seems to be fully original up to the floor mats. The tires look very new though they are from 2015 but she did not drive the car much as she had 2 other cars. Exterior, the paint looks very good and only the front driver seat shows some sign of use and age (though no rips or tears). The car drives very well with the suspension being nice-and-firm while being comfortable. The power on the engine is very good and it's fun to drive (and impressive power for this age of a car). The transmission shifts well and is on point. The A/C used to blow cold air but has diminished recently, may need a recharge) and the radio is good. She also mentioned that a new radiator was put in along with a new set of front brakes ($1k job) using original Mercedes Benz parts. There is a lot of service history records left in the glove box. The only issues I can tell from the car are the following: 1. sagging headliner (due to age and heat dissolving the adhesive, common to many cars this age. I can arrange to have this repaired for an extra cost.)2. A/C is not blowing as cold as when I first got it in June, may need a recharge (I have not looked into it)3. no light on the A/C control panel when headlight is switch on at night4. the bulb for the cluster that shows the miles is out (will need to pull cluster out and replace bulbs) but mileage is still visible5. comes with 1 key and 1 spare (mechanical) key, service manual6. no observed leaks but oil does need to be put in every few months according to previous owner, common with cars this age This car is quickly becoming a collector piece as it was the first AMG vehicle produced when Mercedes Benz bought AMG and made it an in-house department. 'Unlike the C36, which was in fact a "ready-to-sell" C280 disassembled for tuning at the AMG factory, the C43 was the first AMG car to be completely assembled at the Mercedes factory after the acquisition of AMG by Daimler-Benz in 1998." Only 4200 units were produced worldwide from 1998 to 2000 and only around 1147 units came to the US (www.c43amg.com) Interesting articles about the W202 C43 AMGs: https://jalopnik.com/why-you-should-buy-a-cheap-old-mercedes-c43-amg-right-n-1797309811https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-germancars/mercedes-c43-amg-catch-it-while-you-can/30036http://c43amg.com/ Will accept cash, wire transfer, or cashier's check where I can deposit funds before I release the car and title.
