If you take a step back and look this C5 over, you will notice the bulge in the hood, the slightly different front end and splitter, and the wider wheels and tires. All of this has you asking and pondering, what is this thing, and what secrets does it have to tell. Well let’s dive in and take a deeper look. The hood, front clip, and splitter are all completely carbon fiber, which provides a unique and race ready appearance. The wheels are race quality aluminum, and are wrapped in massive performance radials, 275 up front and 335 in the rear.Now let’s look at what you can’t see from the outside. Gone are the engine, transmission, and driveline from the C5 Z06, in is a complete drivetrain from a C6 Z06. A few adjustments had to be made for everything to fit, but you are looking at a 505 horsepower, LS7 powered, 2002 C5 Corvette Z06. It is a bit of a sleeper, as much as a Z06 can be, but you can still fool folks who are expecting the 405 horsepower LS6 V8, as there are no decals or emblems on the outside to indicate its powerplant identity. Giant Baer brakes have been installed up front, while the standard front brakes have been moved to the rear to amplify stopping power.The interior has been kept basic, it features a small cage, which is behind the seats and extends to the trunk ever so slightly, but does not hinder or alter the occupants on entry or exit. The paint is in good condition, it does have a scrape here and there, but is presentable. This is not a show car, this is a Go-Fast car, one that will never disappoint the driver, or the passenger he or she decides to take along for the ride.This 2002 Corvette Z06 is a bit of a FrankenVette, a late model resto-mod if you will, one that I’m guessing nobody will frown upon.
