This listing is for a 2004 Mazda RX-8 with 96,3xx miles with a 6 speed manual transmission, black exterior, and black leather interior. This was a project I picked up with the intention of finishing it over the winter but a sale of my home and new job forces sale (no longer working in an automotive shop). The car needs to be finished, but is a running, driving, stopping platform. I just drove it 60+ miles 2 weekends ago with no problems. Drivetrain is in good shape, it runs, drives, and shifts well. The clutch is good and it starts right up when hot. Will need a new battery soon. Currently the car has one engine code: P0061, I included the picture of the code reader in the listing. The car also needs a coolant level sensor replaced. It does not leak or burn coolant as far as I can see, and the tank remains at the same level, but the sensor light comes on intermittently. I'm not extremely familiar with these rotary motors, but I do know a common problem with these is a hard or no start when hot, this car does not have that problem. The interior is in great shape, everything works exactly as it should. The passenger side flip down visor needs a minor repair, but other than that the interior is clean. The shift knob was removed when I got it, so it needs a shift knob, screws right on. The exterior has some dings, needs a good buffing, and there is some bubbling. Some rust was covered with a poor touch up job on right rear quarter. This would be a great candidate for an inexpensive paint job. I showed the worst spots in the pictures. The rocker panels under the side skirts on both sides need to be replaced. The remainder of the underside of the car is in good shape, just needs rockers. I know that it needs new rear sway bar end-links as well. It will need tires, the wheels are in ok shape, see pictures. It looks good as it sits, but again, needs a little to get to where I would have liked it. As stated, this was a project I never got to finish. The interior was in such nice shape, and despite the code showing it ran well so I took a shot on it. Unfortunately my situation forces a sale, so my loss is your gain.
