Vehicle Detail
Hello everyone! Up for sale is a project Ford Mustang, with a heck of a backstory. It is a very rare care, a GT390 fastback with a list of rare, desirable options: The breakdown of the VIN shows the following: "8" - 1968 Model Year"T" - Built at Metuchen"02" - Mustang 2-door Fastback"S" - 390-4V V8 Engine"blank" - Special Paint (light blue/silver)"G" - 3.25 Limited Slip rear end "5" - 4 Speed Manual transmission Very cool options on the car, including... "GT Equipment Group""Electric Clock""Sport Deck Rear Seats""Power Disc Brakes" "AM Radio" Yes, you read those codes right: a GT390 fastback, with "Special Paint." It's a truly remarkable car. I bought the vehicle from the 2nd owner, who was a close friend of the original owner. A small jar of the original owner's ashes came with the car, and are pictured. I bought it with the intention to restore, however, I like to do resto-mods, and this vehicle deserves to be brought back to 100% stock form. It's a great candidate for it, too. The story goes that the original owner was having engine trouble back in the 70's, and after an engine rebuild, the car still didn't run right, so the car ended up parked at sat for decades in central Florida, and it shows. This is a very rough project. I'm going to list what is GOOD and SOLID on the car first: - Rocker Panels- Firewall- Inner "hull" - Driver's side rear frame rail - exterior trim (all pieces are in good shape)- interior trim (all pieces are in good shape)- all the glass- original wheels/hubcaps As for the rest of the car, you need to plan on a COMPLETE restoration: torque boxes, front clip, sheetmetal, etc. Despite how rough it is, it is still a 100% complete and original S-code fastback, with the original drivetrain, all the trim bits, and 1 of 589 "special paint" Mustangs in 1968. It also has the original keys & Florida title issued in 1969, and comes WITH a mason jar containing the ashes of the original owner! I'm providing 12 photos of the vehicle that show it's best sides, as well as the worst. If you have any specific questions, you can reach me @706 455 7779, and I can answer any questions or provide additional photographs. I'm pretty proud of this find, and I have the reserve set as such. However, depending on the interest, I may lower the reserve once bidding picks up. Please do not ask what my reserve is, I'm curious to see where the interest goes with this car. I'm also not desperate to sell it. If I can't get a price I feel good about, I will store this car and give it a full restoration in the future. Winning bidder must submit a $250.00 non-refundable deposit via Paypal. The remaining balance must be paid with cash or a certified cashiers check (which will clear my bank before the vehicle is released). Shipping is at the expense of the buyer, and I'm willing to work with you on scheduling. Good luck and happy bidding!
