Vehicle Detail

Offered at no reserve! Original Raven Black 1966 Ford F-100 Custom Cab project truck. Good candidate for restoration or as a complete parts truck for your existing restoration adventure. I wanted to build a 100% original truck and this one was not going to make it because the motor is in bad shape and not worth the $ to fix. So, I’m selling her as a project truck for someone that would already be planning to put in something a bit less anemic than the original 352ci V8. So here is the straight scoop. Truck has some great, some good, and some issues. Here are the highlights; The Great. Mostly original paint that has been faded in the Arizona sun to a cool looking natural hot-rod black patina. It really does look pretty cool just as she sits. And it really is an Arizona truck, which is why so much is good ‘n solid.Straight and solid frame.Original wheels and hubcaps are in terrific condition.Lots of great body panels including hood, quarters, doors, cab (except for rockers and corners), tailgate, bed sides.Tons of parts in great shape inside and out which would save many thousands $ on a full restoration. The Good. All glass is clear and very usable.Rip-free bench seat with newer vinyl upholstery and decent door panels.Exterior aluminum trim is good with only a few minor dings that are easily straightened. The original trim is sooooo much better in quality than the $800 aftermarket trim kits on the market. But I’m sure you know this if you’ve ever tried to fit that stuff to your truck…Much of the chassis and suspension is in good shape. Some parts will probably need reconditioning or replacement. The Issues. Motor is probably shot. Turns over but very little compression. You will likely be better off putting in your choice of engine and drivetrain vs. spending the money to fix the original 352ci. Not sure it even can be fixed. 3-speed manual column shift that works fine. Maybe make the 352 block into a coffee table or use it for target practice on the back-40. I’ll join you. I’d love to put a few holes in that thing at this point! You will probably want to replace some mechanical and electrical systems. Brakes work but she pulls a bit to the side under a hard stop at speed. Many parts can be salvaged I’m sure to save lots of $ on the build, but I have no idea what’s good and what’s bad. I stopped digging once I knew the motor was not going to make the team.Needs cab corners, rockers, and some patches on inner wheel wells. Previous owner slapped some filler in the rockers at all the corners of the door sills.Front fenders will need to be replaced or patched.Radiator core support is salvageable but a good quality replacement would probably be the way to go.Bed floor has some rust at cab-end front edge (about 2 inches or less) and will need patching. Rest of bed is solid with surface rust and some dents and dings as expected on the wheel wells and top edges. I’m sure I missed some things in each of the great and good categories. Bottom line is that you could throw in an engine, make sure the brakes are good to go, and you’d have a terrific looking rat rod cruiser with the kind of authentic patina you only get from 50+ years in the Arizona sun. If you’re considering this truck you already know that every part you could possibly need is readily available from LMC Truck, Dennis Carpenter, Restoration Parts, and many others. Besides being a terrific looking truck with classic 1960’s lines, it’s easier to restore based on parts availability than a lot of other stuff out there. Plus – how many freakin’ Chevy C-10’s do I have to endure on the streets and at the shows these days. Cool? Yes. But that cool? Just sayin’. Sold as-is. Buyer is responsible for arranging transport. I will of course help load the truck for transport and get her safely on her way to you. Clear Illinois title in my name. Full payment due within 3 business days of auction close. $500 non-refundable deposit through PayPal due upon winning auction. Payment for balance by certified bank check or wire transfer. Cheers!
