Vehicle Description Hello and thank you for looking at my auction. My name is Joe and I sell vehicles differently than most dealers. Buying your next car or truck through one of my NO RESERVE auctions is the best way to take the games out of your next automotive purchase. I personally road test each vehicle before it is offered for sale so I can give you my first hand opinion of how it runs and drives. Please keep in mind that... I am not a mechanic. Each vehicle is represented accurately and honestly to the best of my knowledge and ability. Please take the time to check out each of the nearly 80 photos and read this entire written description, as well as our Terms & Conditions, carefully BEFORE asking questions or placing a bid as most answers can be found in at least one of those places. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction. Up for a NO RESERVE auction is a very rare 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Orvis with just 111k miles. In the late 90's, Jeep made a few special edition Grand Cherokees. Aside from the 5.9L Limited, the Orvis is my favorite. I would rate the exterior of this Grand Cherokee Orvis to be in BELOW AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. The Dark Green finish is showing its age, specifically on the hood. On the hood, it is almost completely faded. The finish around the rest of the Jeep would be closer to average, in my opinion. As with any older vehicle, there are a few scratches and other blemishes present as you walk around the exterior of this Jeep. Please take your time and check out each of the photos carefully. The body lines are nice and straight. The hood, doors and tail gate all open and close easily. All of the trim and cladding is present and shows well. This Grand Cherokee is wearing a front push bar, which gives it an aggressive look. Additionally, this Grand Cherokee Orvis still sports the Orvis specific wheels with the inserts painted green to match the body. It is wearing an oversized set of tires with average tread all around. In addition to the factory Up Country suspension package that gives this Grand Cherokee a factory 1" lift over a standard Grand Cherokee, this Orvis appears to also have an additional 2-3" suspension lift. All of the glass and lenses are intact, except for a cracked rear tail light lens. Please take your time and check out each of the photos carefully. I would rate the interior of this Grand Cherokee Orvis to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. The door cards are clean and tight. The dash is clean. The headliner has been removed, most likely because it was sagging like every other Grand Cherokee of this age. The carpets are thick and full looking throughout the interior. What is most important to point out about the interior of this Grand Cherokee Orvis is the condition of the seats. The two tone green and tan seats are specific to the Orvis package and are in great condition. All of the seats are soft, supple and show virtually no wear. This interior is super rare. A complete Orvis interior in this condition is worth $1,000+ by itself. The power windows, locks, seats, mirrors and sunroof all work properly. The audio system is interesting. It is a factory Jeep stereo but it is out of a newer model. It powers up and appears to be doing everything it should do but I cannot get any sound. Someone clearly spent the time to install it...and there is even a CD in the deck, but I cannot figure out how to get sound out of it. The climate control system is fully automatic and appears to be working properly. The heater works properly but the A/C compressor is bypassed under the hood with a shorter belt so I'm assuming there is/was an issue with the compressor. Again, please take your time and check out each of the photos carefully. This Grand Cherokee Orvis comes with a complete set of owner's books as well as the original $37,000 window sticker. Mechanically, this Grand Cherokee appears to be in good running and driving condition. The 5.2L V8 starts easily and runs smoothly. I didn't notice any leaks and the engine does not smoke. Her road manners aren't the best, but I suppose it's not too bad for a 20 year old lifted Jeep. The suspension feels tight and well sorted. The steering wonders a bit, which I'm sure is mostly due to being a 20 year old lifted Jeep. I'm sure an alignment and some new bushings would tighten it up a bit, but I wouldn't expect it to drive down the road like a new one. Braking feels solid. The engine keeps perfect temperature and excellent oil pressure. The big V8 makes plenty of power and feels strong. The automatic transmission engages smoothly and shifts properly with zero issues. The 4WD system is tested and working properly. She gets down the highway okay but, like I said, the front end wonders a bit. With the lift and oversized tires, it's obvious that this Jeep wasn't built to be a highway cruiser. However, this Grand Cherokee Orvis will get you up a mountain, through snow or whatever else you can manage to get yourself into.
