Vehicle Detail
I am selling my jeep project. I bought it to restore for summer driving as I love jeeps, but just have too much on my plate. It is in overall good condition for its age, and is in running condition but CAN NOT be driven home as the tires are in bad condition. With new tires, this can be driven around town, but it needs work. Here are the details:1970 Jeep CJ5 - This is the short version of the CJ5'sHas the Buick Dauntless V6 in it. I am not sure if this is the original engine or notEngine starts fine (usually needs a little shot of ether - mechanic told me it needs a new filter)I have had the jeep up to 65 miles per hour - engine has expected powerNo ticks, knocks, etc.BUT - I have not done any work to know engine's exact conditionHere is a link to learn more about this engine: https://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/engines/about/buick/buick-90-v6Transmission: Not sure what is in it, but it is an automaticShifts smoothly and operates as expectedShifter is a locking competitive shifter (it is a pain in the butt)Does NOT have the transfer case installed. It did not come with the Jeep.Suspension/Frame: I recently put in new leaf springs as the old ones were shotAlso installed new shock absorbers all aroundFrame is solidTires are in VERY bad condition. I have driven on them, but recommend immediate replacement.BodyNo top is included with the Jeep. Does have a bikini topBody is in pretty good shape for its ageHas rust in floor pans (new front floor pans included with sale) Rear bed is rusted - has full metal plate on top of it (seen in pictures)Interior. New front seats and seat railsOther MechanicalThe motor mounts need replacement (when in reverse, hear exhaust hitting frame)This is an old Jeep - great for restoration or making an offroad crawler - but do not expect it to be perfect. It is invery good starting condition which is why i purchased it. With new seats, seat rails, springs and shocks and alignment, some of the work is complete. With new tires, i would be very comfortable driving it around town - it is a lot of fun. But it does need work to make it right. Please write with any questions. I will be happy to answer all to the best of my ability. On Oct-17-18 at 15:16:59 PDT, seller added the following information: Jeep is for sale locally - reserve the right to end the auction at any time.
