Up for sale is this beautiful garage-kept 1979 450SL. I bought the car from the second owner that had acquired it from his best friend in California and had it only for a couple of years. Yes, it is a California car with absolute no rust. The car was mechanically sound when I bought it but it needed some TLC and the paint was also a bit faded. I had it professionally re-sprayed with its original Metallic brown color and I have been working on the interior since I got it three years ago. This SL is all original except the stereo, rear speakers and the seat covers which are all new. Everything else inside the car is original and well maintained. Factory spare tire. ONE OF THE LAST YEARS FOR THE 450SL WITH CAST IRON BLOCK V-8! HIGHLY DESIRABLE AND COLLECTIBLE! It is a blast to drive it and the engine runs very strong as it should. The car has no issues, It has a removable hardtop with rear window defrost and a dark brown soft top, both in great shape. The soft top does need one side vinyl window replaced as it has a crack. It also comes with a car-cover. I installed a new power antena and also the water strip for both door's pillars as they were toasted from the sun. The MB chrome wheels were an upgrade in 1979 for this model and they are in good condition too. It has been a real joy to own this 450SL for the pass three years but I just sent my daughter to college so I am helping her with tuition. That is the only reason why I am selling it. I did not cut any corners with the paint job nor with all the work I did as I was not planning to get rid of it. You can tell by the pictures that I was very detailed and it turned out to be a real head-turner. I have all the before and after pictures including the paint job if requested. It drives very smooth down the highway with lots of power. There are only two issues that were not addressed, 1- The a/c does not work, the a/c compressor is there but it does not have the belt and 2- the trunk does not stay up for some reason. The heater works great as well as the controls. Everything in the dash works including the clock. All interior lights in good order and the new stereo was set up to display the same color as the rest of all the interior lights. They are getting hard to find in this good of condition and the keep going up in value.
