Vehicle Detail

Here is a stunning 1939 Ford Deluxe Coupe. It has been a southern California Southwest desert car since new and has zero rust on it anywhere. It is all steel and the previous owner had it for 55 years. It has been built many times during his ownership and this last time was about ten years ago and it has a little over 11,000 miles on it since then. It has a chromed dropped axle with unsplit wishbone for the front suspension and a 9 inch Ford under the back. It has disc brakes on the front with a power booster on the frame. It has a beefy 302 and a C4 transmission pushing the wide whitewall radials down the highway. It drives as pretty as it looks and is built with all of the tried and true classic hotrod stuff. I can't think of anything I would change on this car. The overall feeling I get from this car is that the guy that owned it must have been thinking of what is the best way to put together a fat fender Ford that would be absolutely reliable, durable, bulletproof and tasteful enough to show not just for this years gimmicky modification but be truly classic old school and look as good today as it will 20 years from now. This is one of a very few cars that I have seen that is just perfect the way it is. Usually I can go to a show and say "You know, that car would look really great with a different rake", or maybe a different set of wheels, or some sort of change that would more suit my tastes. This car, from the minute I saw it coming down the road just struck me as period perfect. I think everything about it is just fine as it sits. The overall condition of the car suggests that the previous owner had to be extremely pleased with the way the car turned out. It needs nothing. The color, the stance, the rims and tires, just everything about it seems just as it should be. It has the original uncut dash with new Stewart Warner black face wing gauges. It has the timeless Grant three spoke steering wheel. All of the switches are just as they would have been in the day. The windshield still cranks open to let in fresh air and the cowl still works for a little less fresh air. The dash is refinished in almost a chocolate shade of black with all of the stainless and chrome trim still in place. The trunk latch has been shaved and has an electric button in the glove box. The back of the seat lifts up to reveal a storage area (about three bodies worth) and the trunk is finished and carpeted top and bottom. There is a set of matching interior sun visors that are wrapped in plastic and never installed as well as a bit of extra upholstery material. The interior shows the same restrained good taste exhibited in the rest of the car. Technically it is gray tuck and roll but the fit and finish are exemplary. The pattern on the seats is simple yet refined. The pattern on the doors and the kick panel match exactly when the door is closed. The headliner and the piping around the edges is just right. Even under and behind the seat is finished nicely. All of the window garnish moldings are chrome. Of course all of the rubber weatherstripping has been replaced and there are no rough edges to be found. The floor mats are mounted with snaps to assist in keeping the cabin tidy. The doors shut like a vault. The trunk trunk latches with the most gentle push. The hood to cowl fits like a Lexus. The car is quiet and has no wind noises. The only thing you hear is the rumble from the dual exhaust and Flowmasters. It is not a disagreeable sound. It transmits just enough grunt to remind you there is a healthy V8 under the hood and the transmission shifts as smooth as glass. The car drives down the road with purpose. It goes straight and true and you can stand on the brakes with your hands off the wheel and it doesn't waiver. All of the gauges work as they should. The car never runs hot even in 120 degree desert traffic. The car has no heater. It has no A/C. it doesn't even have a radio. It is a joy just to drive for the experience of motoring down the highway. This is not a car for someone that doesn't want to be noticed. I've had people yelling at me to pull over so they can get a picture. The chick at the auto parts store is almost angry that I will drive it on the road. Filling it with gas is a social experience. The car is a head turner everywhere it goes. The body is as straight as a lazer. All of the gaps are perfect. There is absolutely no wear in the hinges. The hood latches just as it should. The paint is very high quality but it is showing some aging. There is a nick on the chin from a parking block and there is a repaired chip on the roof. There are a half dozen blisters showing up in different areas but I would not even think about doing anything about then unless you are a really particular person. The pinstriping is again, period perfect. I wouldn't change a thing. There are even little balls at the end of each stripe. The wheels I'm pretty sure are Vintiques with the chrome rim and body matched center. There is a small Ford logo on the center of each baby moon. This even has an original locking gas cap with the little flip up cover on it. I haven't said much about driving the car. It runs as good as it looks. It steers really well with a very tight radius. There is no power assist so sitting still will give you some forearms, but once it is rolling it is like butter. The car still has the wipers mounted on the roof with a cool little body colored filler on each spindle. The vacuum motor works as it should but I have no arms or blades to put on it. Most of the cars in the desert have the wipers off and in the glovebox or something in case it rains that year. This has a Lokar floor mounted shifter with all of the safety switches hooked up. It has a tilt GM column with the key on it. The turn signals work perfectly as well as the horn and it has the 4 way flasher switch on the side. All of the dashlites work as well as the turn signal indicators. The tail lights are very bright and highly visible which is quite often a problem in these cars. The headlites are Halogen with the turn signal mounted in the glass cover. I know I haven't covered everything but I think you should have a idea of what this car is about. This truly is a turn key hotrod. It is ready to show or go. It is not the fastest, it is not the toughest, but it is made to still be around when your grandchildren are grown. This car is built with components that have been around for 80 years. Anything needed to keep this car rolling is as near as any parts store. You don't need to be a technician to keep this car on the highway. It is as timeless as rock and roll. The car is being sold as is. It must be paid for before it leaves my possession. No Nigerian Princes, no checks on a Guatemalan Bank. Ask your wife, mother, brother dad sister before you buy it. Consult your Astrologer first. I need half of the final bid in five days and the balance in ten days. I have a clear Arizona title on it registered for five years and the plates can go with it. No Pay-pal I know that sometimes pictures do not show every detail of a car and as many cars as I have seen lately with the chrome spray painted on it makes it a little frightening to buy a car online. I'm pretty sure this car will not disappoint. The pictures are high resolution and you can open them in a new window and then blow them up. I have sold many many cars online and I find it is better to not exaggerate. This is a nice car. I reserve the right to cancel this ad as many people have spoken about it but none have stepped forward. On Oct-06-18 at 07:13:51 PDT, seller added the following information: Little update. This does have split wishbones with polyurethane bushings on the front end. The rear has parallel leaf springs. Also the chrome and stainless trim is excellent. It all fits the body like a second skin and in particular the grill trim is extra fine.On Oct-09-18 at 07:49:01 PDT, seller added the following information: https://www.facebook.com/bob.kerkel.9/videos/1837026499743758/?t=0
