Vehicle Detail
This beautiful GTI is definitely not a project car. Everything is clean and well-cared for; its turbo assisted 0-60 performance is impressive. As interior parts have become dull or worn, they have been replaced. The center console for example, is fully functional. It has a new shifter boot, too. No missing or broken knobs. The leather interior is in great shape; not ripped or torn, or worn out. Exhilarating modifications have been made to this highly reliable turbo GTI, making it a thrill to drive. Before listing those modifications, let’s review the basics: within the last 50k, this GTI has enjoyed a new turbo, a new clutch, Bilstein struts and shocks, new Continental 225/45R17 DWS (Dry, Wet & Snow) Pure Contact tires developed for sports cars - and these have 4/32” tread remaining, a water pump, and along with the water pump it was also blessed with a new timing belt. Most recently, we had the boost pressure sensor replaced ($500), passed Utah emission testing and certifications, gave it a fresh oil change of the Mobil 1 0W-40 that it always gets, and replaced the air conditioning condenser, compressor, expansion valve & receiver/drier ($1500) so it blows ice cold again under Utah’s hot blue summer skies. What makes this car a thrill to drive are the mod’s that increase its horsepower enough to really feel its strength, without doing anything to harm overall reliability. This GTI has APR Stage II 93/91 octane tuning, an APR R1 diverter valve, AFE air intake, a Neuspeed under-drive power pulley kit for reduced parasitic drag on the engine and 5-7 more horsepower, a Neuspeed heavy duty transmission mount making the car’s throttle response feel better and the shifting to feel more crisp, Neuspeed lowering springs (for looks!), and an ECS Stage 1 clutch with lightened flywheel to handle extra torque while improving acceleration and accommodating all conditions from your Sunday drive to the abuse of the track. In addition, you will enjoy the benefits of a Techtonics 2.5-inch stainless steel downpipe and the Mototec stainless steel cat-back exhuast. Braking is aided by Brembo cross-drilled rotors designed to dissipate heat and eliminate brake dust and gasses - which keeps the rims looking sharp, too! While it is possible to find Blue Book trade-in values for this car that are around $1000, the value of the PARTS above will give you a total of $4000-$5000, and of course with LABOR the installed value would be in the $8000-$10,000 range or higher. That total is over and above the value of the base vehicle itself. What does all this mean to a buyer? As a buyer of this car, you have unique options. Here are a few to consider: OPTION 1-A: Buy this car for yourself and enjoy its reliability. Take advantage of the fact that it has been cared for. Treat it like a new car! Expect to spend very little on it, for quite a while - everything is up to date and working. OPTION 1-B: Buy this car for someone else; perhaps a son or daughter who would would be gobsmacked(!) at having a Volkswagen Turbo GTI. Again, knowing that it has been cared for. OPTION 2: Buy this car and turn up the heat. Take advantage of all the mod’s that it has. Spend maybe another $500 to crank up the horsepower from reasonably peppy, to borderline outrageous. And you still get to enjoy a pristine clean ride, heated leather seats, icy air, and all the rest. OPTION 3: Buy this car and really turn up the heat. You can treat it like you love it, or you can treat it like your ______. Spend a little more - take it from borderline outrageous to seriously monster-class speedy and fun. Take it to a track, and see what it can do! OPTION 4: I really hate to say this, but you can buy it for its parts. Take advantage of all the mod’s, all the clean body parts, and all the sought-after interior elements. Maybe enjoy the ride for a year or so first? Then part it out to break even, or even make a profit. OPTION 5: Buy it because it’s so cheap - almost disposable - for what you get. Where else can you “Buy It Now”, and drive a vehicle so brilliant as this one (without a care in the world) until it’s been driven right into the ground, at which point it is time to buy another on eBay. Hey...it’s only money! OPTION 6: Here we are! You never needed any words of wisdom from a seller. Do whatever you want, because you can. Click the “Buy it Now” button, and never look back.
