Vehicle Detail

1973 F-250 4x4, 390 V8, dual exhaust, runs strong, uses no oil, less than 30k on rebuilt motor, well maintained, rust in usual places, also along the leading edge of box bottom by the cab, and could use a fresh coat of paint, overload springs, solid drop hitch receiver, needs cross joints on the front drive shaft, other than that it's got lots of miles left in it!! I purchased this truck in 1983, replaced all the cross joints that are internal in the front axle, repacked the bearings on the spindles, hubs, outboard bronze brgs, removed the transmission and replaced the needles, sincro's, seals, etc, removed the transfer case and went thru it too, new clutch plate, disc, throw-out brg., and put a Checker (now O'Reilly) rebuilt motor in it in 2000, along with new clutch disc and brg., used the truck for hauling wood from the mountains for years. The truck is more than road worthy for miles and miles, but it does however have 4:10 gears, so highway speed should be best kept under 60 mph, it gets the best gas mileage at 55mph because of the low gears, It sits outside and fires up easily when I do use it, it has a block heater for when it's -20, plows thru snow drifts 4 ft. deep and never did get it stuck yet (I suppose there always is a 1st time??), tires have studs and 3/4" tread left on them. As for the front drive shaft, the cross joint coming off the transfer case is sloppy and needs replaced (4WD still works, but don't want to run it hard without a new joint). Brake work has been done all the way around, and brakes still work fine, I had the front drums off and the lining still has 3/4 left on them.
