The car you are bidding on is a 1997 Ford Escort. This vehicle was initially purchased, and kept in our extended family throughout it's lifespan. My Wife's Father purchased this car in Houston brand new. I purchased the Escort for myself several years ago, so I am the second owner of this vehicle. The car has terrific bones and has been given much attention to it over it's lifetime. Within the last 3 Years alone we have installed many new parts as listed below. The exterior was repainted in the original basecoat/clearcoat Hunter Green Metallic finish, and the interior has almost no visible signs of wear...it is truly a unique specimen, and a great prize for those willing to go the extra mile to see it through to it's next season. There are many of the 1997 Escort 2.0 Liter engines (for manual transmission) available in the market and on EBAY with low-moderate mileage for about 1K. IF you have a competent mechanic who can do an engine swap then you have the makings for a really decent vehicle. For the price is a good consideration for a locally driven student vehicle to go from point A to B.....that is all I have to say about that. The engine has given us reason to believe it has seen its best days, and is all but given out. We are reasonably certain it will need at the very least a head gasket replacement, and at the other extreme the engine may need to be replaced on this vehicle. Either way the Escort is not driveable at present, so the winning bidder will need a way to tow it or load it out from our place. The reason I am selling this car is I've had work done on the car and so I hope to give it a new life to someone who's willing to put in the work to fix it, I've recently had most of the underside of the vehicle worked on; the suspension system, joints, ball bearings, steering rack and shocks both front and back, replaced as well as the fuel filler line. I've also replaced the front tires on the car and both front and back tires have warranties; with paperwork, for Discount Tire. I have the bills for all of the major repairs done to the car so you can get an idea on what or what hasn't been done to the vehicle and we have the title in-hand to help make things easy for the buyer.
